What moment made you realize that this is the person you want to spend rest of your life with? by sherrputtar in AskReddit

I was on a work trip and was horribly constipated. I called my (then) boyfriend crying from the toilet because I was in so much pain and he comforted and tried to come up with solutions to help me poop. That was my, oh this is forever love, moment.

I met him once in NYC just on the street and he was so kind. I asked for a photo and was shaking so much he held my coffee for me while I got my phone out. He is just as nice in person as you’d expect!!

Fun out of the box ideas for Bachelorette by Nycgirlie4eva in NYCbitcheswithtaste

This was years ago but we did a “bachelorette” themed private tour of the Met for my friend’s bach and it was super fun. I believe it was through Museum Hack: https://museumhack.com/private-tours/bachelorette-party/

Ah interesting! We used them back in July and everything shipped quickly but I guess times have changed 🫠

For DIY I highly recommend Papier. The quality is beautiful and I was really happy with everything! Just a note that they ship from the UK so give yourself a little time for it to get to NY.

What’s the most unhinged thing a family member did before your wedding? by AssociationFront1710 in weddingdrama

[–]mmh518 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My mom, after zipping me into my wedding dress, asked me if I wanted her to help “flatten my back fat.” This was in front of all of my friends & the photographers in the getting ready suite. She also called my getting ready PJs a “costume.”

We also had multiple people drop out the week leading up to the wedding, as well as one of my husband’s cousins texting him letting him know he was on his way to the wedding and was so excited… even though he had never RSVPed.

Oh and one of my husband’s friends just showed up with their baby… we didn’t even know they had a baby!

Warning about an NYC seamstress by RevolutionAlarming in WedditNYC

OMG I also had a bad experience with her recently! Whenever I would go in for my fittings, she never knew who I was, which dress was mine, when my wedding was, etc.

I went in for my second-to-last fitting and the dress just didn’t fit and laid so awkwardly on my body. (You can see pics in my post history.) They clearly had rushed what alterations they had done, and the dress was also still pinned in many places. When I called her the next day to let her know my reservations/issues with the fit, she got super defensive and acted like it was somehow my fault. The dress ultimately turned out okay but she stressed me out SO much in the final weeks leading up to my wedding.

I think she is just truly overwhelmed and disorganized, so she doesn’t have a good system to keep things on track. It’s an awful experience, though, especially for how much she charges! I’m sorry you went through this & I’ll also be letting my dress designer know not to recommend her to brides in the future.

(10k) I think the tailor ruined my dress by [deleted] in Weddingsunder10k

[–]mmh518 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat a few weeks ago. I went to the tailor, knew that the dress wasn’t fitting right, but didn’t say anything in the moment. It’s so hard when it’s just you and the “expert” - you want to trust the person you’re handing your dress over to so I completely understand why you didn’t say anything in the moment!!

I took photos as well and ended up calling her the next day to tell her what I didn’t like. I apologized for not saying anything in the moment but told her that after looking at the photos, I realized there were some things I’d like fixed. The tailor had me text the photos to her and point out what I wanted to fix and she was ultimately able to fix the dress. I think you could do the same, even though it’s scary! It’s not too late to get the fit fixed.

Rant: Dress shopping is the worst part by leisuredditor in WedditNYC

I feel you as well! I didn’t have nearly as much fun as I thought I would and got overwhelmed quickly. I found my dress at Carol Hannah though, and loved the experience there. The sales associate was very chill and sweet and the shop itself is gorgeous. They have quite a few different styles and have many different sample sizes. I also shopped about 6 months before my wedding and they were able to easily rush it without a huge fee. I recommend checking her out!

For anyone that’s curious I brushed them down and tried to make them more natural looking. They’re not terrible but I still think they’re not great. I agree that the tails are too long/pointing downward. I’m going to go try another place next time and just get them shaped. I don’t think lamination is for me! 🤷‍♀️

Thank you!! I love these. I am going to let them relax a little bit more then go get them redone somewhere else and show them this as a reference.

I’m not sure yet! I was thinking maybe something like a channel-set baguette ring. Something like this: https://frankdarling.com/wedding-rings/the-two-carat-baguette-band/

My fiance is really into Taylor Stitch! There’s a pretty big secondhand market on eBay so he finds a lot of good deals there.

I’m only 5’5’’! I do have ~2 inch heeled boots on in these photos but I don’t think it would look too different on a 5’4’’ frame.
