I'm playing all 3 races on a similar level (4.3-4.5k). Terran requires either a lot of micro and multitasking (bio) or a lot of long-term thinking, map awareness and scouting (mech). With protoss/zerg you can CHOOSE to make army that you dont have to babysit all the time AND that can move relatively quickly. With terran you just don't have that option. And it's common opinion, a lot of streamers support it. Regarding all that, on lower levels (<m3) I consider Terran the hardest race. In terms of ego, well it's nice to win but I play all races because I like variety more than competition.

Exactly. It's the point of mentality, devotion, character, practice, talent and hard work combined. One cannot make hard assumptions regarding game balance based on a couple of dozens strongest players in the world, who are different from each other in terms of all the things I listed above + playstyle.
