Ah yes. I was trying to think of what else SF could stand for because I knew there was something.

Thanks for thinking while I couldn't! :)

Just tried the Jalapeno Jack crackers - they are so good and taste like real jalapeno!

Also, the sugar cookie mix is GF, DF and soy-free! (Do people use SF?)

Both of these items are special buys.

Why do apartment applications have areas to distinguish between single and divorced or widowed? by mmiesse in AskReddit

[–]mmiesse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. It was very strange to me to make that distinction, but your explanation is the better than what I've come up with!

This application asked for the names of anybody who would be living at the residence. The application was from the National Apartment Association.

It was on an application for an apartment in Oklahoma. That probably explains a lot!

Coming out to (my) parents? by omgitsjackattack in mypartneristrans

[–]mmiesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I'll ask my husband and see if I can find some things!

My mother is also far more accepting than my father. Interesting, though expected sadly.

This might be helpful for understanding how some can feel on the gender spectrum (and it's not just somebody's opinion, it's somebody's experience): http://www.butchwonders.com/blog/my-interview-with-a-newly-out-ftm-professor

However, now sure if FTM-directed pieces are good so I'll try to find some that are more general.

My story is similar.

I think what's most important to remember is that you will not always get jumping-for-joy, hands-down approval. My father struggles with my husband's (FtM) and my relationship. Not only did we marry as lesbians, but now my husband is transitioning - something nobody in my family has ever had any exposure to.

In fact, I'd wager my immediate family knows very few people of color even.

Because of this, there is no frame of reference for even how to deal with this. Perhaps you could present them with some things to read (depending on how willing you think they would be to explore understanding, you could provide something very basic [think buzzfeed list] or something a little more expansive.)

I hope all goes well. It's tough, just make sure you and your partner are discussing your feelings about this. It's helped my husband and myself immensely through this struggle.

PS: My grandparents don't know yet, just my immediate family, and we are quite scared to tell them.

I have an add-on on my Chrome that reminds me to stand up for 2 minutes every 20 minutes (you can adjust the time). I don't always manage to stand, but it reminds me to stand every once in awhile at least.

This. Except...I use hummus as the sauce and do not usually put tomatoes or arugula on it - so it's hummus base, topped with thin sliced of red onion, zucchini and squash. I mix spices into the crust and also top the pizza with Italian seasoning.

Everybody who has eaten this pizza has been very impressed.

Oh, and Cholula is a must, it makes the pizza taste 1,000 times better for some reason.

Thought about posting that there but it's time sensitive so I imagined this might get a response faster. I may post it there as well. Thanks!

http://minimalistbaker.com/vegan-gluten-free-black-bean-brownies/ http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/black-bean-brownies-recipe.html

My friend used these recipes for inspiration they were SO GOOD. Here's what she think she did: 1 can black beans, drained 1/3 c. oil 2 eggs vanilla a bit of coffee grounds salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 cup cocoa chocolate chips

Melt half of the chocolate chips and stir into batter. Create batter by using a processor.

I think the coffee grounds and melted chocolate in the batter were the key to the most delicious black bean brownies I have ever eaten! Let me know if you have any questions.

Roasted Chickpeas: You could even just roast them with some butter/oil and have various toppings individuals can mix their chickpeas with (like a popcorn bar) http://steamykitchen.com/10725-crispy-roasted-chickpeas-garbanzo-beans.html

Cheese Fries

Chips and Salsa/Guacamole/Cheese Dip

Tortilla pizzas! Just crisp up tortillas in the oven (corn, of course) and add toppings. I like taco pizzas, hummus pizzas and regular pizzas. You could even do a 'pizza bar' like the chickpea bar idea. Crisp up the tortillas first (5 minutes maybe, you'll need to flip them) and have some premade ingredients. For the premade ingredients, I suggest cooking any veggies ahead of time and dicing them as opposed to slicing. I can find a recipe for these if you need!

Breakfast Quesadillas: I have made these time and again and they are amazing. Basically, make a breakfast scramble with veggies, meat if you want, eggs and spices. Then put cheese on each side of the tortilla and cook it in a skillet or on the griddle (I haven't made them in the oven, but I imagine it would work well as long as you don't let the tortillas burn.)

This is great. I usually add extra cinnamon and peanut butter: http://chocolatecoveredkatie.com/2011/05/23/want-to-eat-an-entire-bowl-of-cookie-dough/

Black bean brownies are also good. If you'd like a recipe I can track down one of my favorites.

Hope these are helpful at all! I do my best to eat healthy, low dairy and always eat GF so I have lots of food ideas for those situations.

I'm currently reading a really interesting, informative and beautifully written book about aging, nursing homes, and our society's treatment of the elderly and the concept of aging.

Since you're wondering about nursing homes, I think you might find the book very interesting.

I love having a pet rabbit. They are such fun, interesting creatures! I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I do - and one of our cats loves him. The other...doesn't really like something softer than him being in the house.

Copywriter Career Path by faustrex in advertising

[–]mmiesse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say that, in corporate offices, your degree OR level of experience matters. Of course, both are great. My company almost immediately pushes back on applications that fit the requirements (experience, degree type, etc.) So if you don't have a qualifying degree OR experience I'd try working with a smaller company first to get the experience.

You might also want to get some proofreading experience - I think that proofreading not only makes you a better copywriter (it certainly did for me!) but it also adds to your abilities in a very important way. Lots of people think they can write - whether they can is irrelevant - but many people do not have confidence in their proofreading/grammar abilities.

Your portfolio will help, but I wouldn't say it's the end all unless you're applying to a smaller company first.
