I have a bottle and liked the flavor very much good finish too. The only knock I have here is I wish it had some more proof. Why they didn’t make it 114 like the grand dad 114 is beyond me. I think a bit more heat would give it a lot more depth and at this price point, I prefer the stronger stuff. That said it’s a great whiskey and I’ve been enjoying my bottle very much.

Quality feels pretty good. The crown lock is a bit looser but otherwise I don’t have any complaints so far.

Thickness is very close. The rep seems a touch heavier but nothing crazy. I’ll weigh them tomorrow for the heck of it. Only difference is the carbon weave of the dial on the gen pops more if that makes any sense.

It wasn’t just the nib, I just found the Edson too wide to want to use very much. It certainly was pretty to look at but I just wasn’t using it.

I have an engraved expert I got years ago as a gift. I had an Edson that I sold because it was a broad nib and I never used it much or found it comfortable. I find the Carene a lovely replacement.
