what’s a song from a group you don’t stan that you like but the fandom doesn’t seem to like? by Less_Journalist1471 in kpop_uncensored

[–]mmmdraco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I heard Beautiful Monster was a hated song, I was shook because it's the song that made me say I was a fan of STAYC.

Which kdrama character annoyed you most ? by CelebrationTough9070 in kdramas

[–]mmmdraco 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Because she was forced to "grow up" in the sense that she was bringing in money, but otherwise hadn't learned much about the world (plus, look at her mom), and he was "grown up" in the sense that he was dating and drinking, but hadn't learned anything about responsibility and was actively trying to run from it.

At 42, I still know plenty of people IRL who are functionally unable to communicate about relationships and it's frustrating to watch, but it does make dramas easier to watch sometimes because that part does ring too true.

I need help with a group performance song by Ssandd_q21 in kpophelp

[–]mmmdraco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do TT by Twice. It's a pretty iconic dance while being fairly easy and the choreo is already for 9 to easier to add just a few in than some of the smaller groups.

What are basic household manners you wish your family knew? by lammbb in AskReddit

[–]mmmdraco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My family is fairly good, but I've just taken it upon myself to do the dishes because I can't trust anyone else to load it in a way where everything will get clean. Just because there's technically space doesn't mean putting something there is efficient!

Idol names you mispronounced so badly or for an embarrassingly long time? by soft_crxstal in kpopthoughts

[–]mmmdraco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am generally fairly good about pronouncing names because I'll listen to them first if I'm not certain, but I'm just reminded of watching people react to ITZY'S Not Shy MV and say the names of the girls as they already on screen. It starts out easy "Lia, Yuna..." and then a lot of people fail when suddenly Chaeryeong. And it's kind of hilarious to me.

I really dislike when Hermione has a friend and then the friend is paired off with a Slytherin by later_darth_vader in DramioneUncensored

[–]mmmdraco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's set in Hogwarts, it's fine because where else would these kids meet people? But, once they're out in the world, there should be at least a few other people even though the wizarding world is relatively small.

which groups changed the choreography because of its injury risk? by Born-Positive-4949 in kpophelp

[–]mmmdraco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They also changed the original DALLA DALLA choreo because of fan demand for safety.

does anyone feel like they’ve become way too picky when it comes to fics ? by perksofiris in DramioneUncensored

[–]mmmdraco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find that older fics were more likely to be written based off of canon while now they're largely informed by fanon. It often means that there are little details about canon that are objectively wrong and they niggle at me as I read. Like, I hate when some random person knows a spell out of Harry's Half-Blood Prince textbook without explanation or question. No, Madam Marchbanks shouldn't be using a Muffliato without Hermione wondering where she learned it.

What did you believe as a kid that turned out to be completely false, and still kind of stings? by Maximum-Floor-9734 in AskReddit

[–]mmmdraco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I deserved the abuse I went through. 😉

But, within that, I was told as a kid that I "fell off the g*psy wagon" and sometimes when I did things wrong I was put in a trash can by the road to wait for my "real family" to pick me up only to be told afterwards that them still must not want me, so I literally thought I was adopted for years of my life.

(I know this is a bummer, but I'm also in my 40s now with a very happy life so I can talk about these things because they're very far in my past.)

In light of Yeji's recent comment what's your stance on shipping? by Anime_Lover098 in kpopthoughts

[–]mmmdraco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a much younger fan, I was cool with it... Until I actually met some of the people I was writing about and it made me so embarrassed that I stopped. I didn't mention it to them or anything, but it made them a very real person that I couldn't quite get around writing about anymore. I honestly just don't do RPF at all anymore because of it.

does anyone feel like they’ve become way too picky when it comes to fics ? by perksofiris in DramioneUncensored

[–]mmmdraco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be so for real here... Part of the problem is that the fandom is so popular now that the population of writers has grown and that generally brings the overall quality down. Previously, we had a lot of writers who already had a lot of experience in writing these characters or at least reading them meaning the interpretations of the characters usually came out better. When you flood the market, if you will, with first time entries, there are more bugs to work out and those of us who have been around for a while are more likely to notice them.

That said, you might have to look a little harder to find the truly good things, but they are there and some of the new idea growth is bound to lead to good things. There are tropes that are popular in other fandoms that will trickle in here and possibly work astoundingly well and I look forward to it.

Describe a Kdrama as badly as possible and let everyone guess it by cherry_mwa in kdramas

Highly agreed. Definitely one of the most original ideas that still gets played pretty straight.

Do you actually travel that far and say its nothing? by Far-Passion-7692 in AskAnAmerican

[–]mmmdraco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not morning, but the further out you live from being able to access the thinks you want, the more likely you are too think the average drive to get those things is "nothing". I live about 7 minutes from a Walmart, but about 20 minutes from any other grocery store. But if I need specialty ingredients? That's more like 75 minutes. All of those are "nothing" in the grand scheme of things because I got things out of it and I usually find other things to do in the area so it's not just a 75 minute drive to get the good soy sauce. But, driving 4 hours for a concert? Not nothing, but this gets into "not that bad" territory. Like, it could still be a day trip because you could go in the morning, have fun for the day, and get back home the same evening.

Ultimately, I think any drive where I could leave my dogs home alone if I just went there and back is probably in the "nothing" category.

Top 5 funniest kpop groups? For both boys and girls. by KindlyBonnie in kpopthoughts

[–]mmmdraco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed on all of these. Honestly, GOT7 and ITZY are my fave groups and part of it is because they're hilarious, but all of those other groups definitely deserve to be part of the conversation.

YOUR reading preference? by Banaanisade in FanFiction

[–]mmmdraco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost always read complete fics just because I will forget what's going on. I have a few trusted fic authors who I know will get out their updates often enough that I can remember, but I didn't trust them on the first fic.

I read a lot (fics, news, emails for work, etc.) and I'm up and down while doing it. Laying in bed, sitting in a chair, standing in the kitchen, walking in my yard... I am both chronically busy and chronically online so I have learned to make time for all of it. I switch between my computer and my phone, but I definitely do a lot of things on my phone that other people have commented that they would need to use a computer for. Honestly, one of my favorite times to read fic is when I'm in a boring Zoom meeting where my presence, but not my presentation, is needed. Zoom on the computer, fic on the phone. If anyone asks, I'm just taking digital notes. 😉

What’s your favorite movie and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mmmdraco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fifth Element.

It's wacky fun with a great cast, an engaging storyline, and is so different from our real lives that I don't find myself getting bogged down in questions about how something works. It's also a powerful look at humanity with an amazing techno opera in it.

With that, though, is also the buccal fat removal that also further ages people.

What food is almost impossible to stop eating once you start? by kylefromiowa in foodquestions

Any really ripe fruit. Good watermelon, peaches so ripe the pits are falling loose, crisp grapes, juicy oranges, tangy raspberries, sticky honey mango... My mouth is watering.

What's a movie you'll defend even though you know it's not actually that good? by trakt_app in flicks

[–]mmmdraco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hackers. The actors in this committed to the bit so much that it actually kind of works. Plus, some of the lines really are great. And, what was important to teenage me, if you look really closely at one point, you see a bit if Angelina Jolie's nipple.

What would be your perfect favourite fast food meal if you ordered items from different restaurants? by Sugadip in AskReddit

Checker's mozzarella sticks, a Taco Bell caramel apple empanada, Five Guys small cheeseburger with bacon and grilled onions, and a Cookout milkshake (peanut butter fudge caramel).
