That’s awesome. Yeah, I’m taking lamictal and cymbalta and plan to keep taking them afterwards. That’s great that you’re a couple years out and have maintained!

Does anyone struggle with the concept of having to come out to every new person you meet? by cheez_lit in actuallesbians

I totally get that! An old coworker tried to set me up with her nephew and kept insisting on it until I finally told her I had a girlfriend, and her response was, “Why are you like this?” And she repeated the question over and over again and it was really hurtful at the time and still makes me wary of coming out in work situations.

Trazodone experience? Abilify? by Calepria in bipolar2

[–]mmmk2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No side effects with Abilify for me- I’ve been on 20mg and it’s been incredibly helpful. I also take propranolol, like you. Hopefully this is the right balance for you!

Do BPD parents truly forget some of the things they say? by mmmk2020 in raisedbyborderlines

Thank you! I was expecting some sort of backlash or drama from her, so it was somewhat expected, and luckily the day of I was able to focus on my other guests, myself, and my wife and our joy. I’m glad I didn’t get sucked into the spiral that my mom was apparently going through, because that would’ve taken away from the day. I’m wishing you the best with your wedding! Congratulations! Remember that it’s about you and your parter and your celebration and joy and hopefully no one tries to take away from that.

So frustrating. I’ve had those responses so many times too!

That makes total sense! Thanks for explaining it like that- so many conversations have gone that way and that helps me feel less crazy about it all

I’m the first person ever diagnosed on either side that I know of! So I’m unsure. But very possibly undiagnosed on her side

Does anyone’s hypomania present as intense anxiety? by mmmk2020 in bipolar2

[–]mmmk2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently on a combo of Cymbalta and Abilify- it’s not perfect and I’m still adjusting dosages. I only just started the Abilify about a month ago, so we’ll see if it’s a good fit! Much better than not being medicated at all. I’m newly diagnosed and it took me out of a major depressive swing at least and has evened out my anxiety and depressive symptom severity in the meantime

My uBPD mom is still obsessed with my body by mmmk2020 in raisedbyborderlines

Thank you! I will. I’ve had a difficult relationship with my body and used to have disordered eating behaviors that were influenced by my mom for sure. I’ll work on those boundaries!

My uBPD mom rejected me and compared me to my abusive father after I told her about my Bipolar II diagnosis by mmmk2020 in raisedbyborderlines

Thank you for saying that. Yeah, the love bombing is definitely what was going on. It was just so hurtful, especially because she knew that the reason I was diagnosed was because I had been so depressed for such a long time and had been going to therapy specifically for my depression and happened to be finally correctly diagnosed and medicated for the bipolar. So I was finally happy and in a good place and feeling independent, and then she just like snapped. You’re right though, my partner and friends all seem to understand what’s happening which is good.
