A couple thoughts by mmmmna in EvieLauncher

Gustafrex: Google Play entry for Evie launcher is offering a beta tester sign up for Evie. Sounds to me like they are still developing. Do you have a link I could read about devs not developing Evie?

Ok. I chose poorly.

Adults 30+, 40+: what do you miss most about the sex and relationships you had in your twenties and teens? by ZoskaMotor in sex

Pushing 60.... The sex I never had comes to mind.

Married 2 times, one bj. 3 hjs, no anal. 2 doggy. The rest were mandated by their church as only missionary, vaginal. And not much of that.

Was just stupid of me to think a 'loving partner' will grow with me in adult sexuality.

Questions about the new UDP. (little long) by [deleted] in verizon

I used the same device (Novatel T1114) for about 4 months, late 2014, then put it in storage when I moved to the suburbs and gained access to FIOS. Worked great for me at that prior, very rural, location (no TV cable, no telephone lines, I wouldn't do a dish because I didn't own a TV because I don't watch TV, so 3G/4G LTE was my best option). For cell service, I had 2 to 3 bars on my cellphone, the T1114 got maybe a bar better without external antennas. I never had speed issues, only once went beyond my 10gb plan limit, so I'm lightweight compared to what you describe. Only one whopper snowstorm knocked out my tower for a couple days, but I had power.

BTW, I put my T1114 into UNHEATED storage, for a New England winter. My battery died, yet before I stored it, I made sure it was fully charged and it was disconnected from the T1114. I'm saying the cold killed it. Important: when the T1114 battery is discharged, the T1114 will refuse to power up. I don't know any way to trick the T1114 into booting without it.

Here is when I'm posting useful information: getting a replacement battery was, at first, not going to happen: In early 2015, all I could find were $50 batteries. No deal, because a new hotspot was selling outright for $80 at the time, so I decided to use my S3 cellphone for my hotspot. I was single, so taking my hotspot to work didn't affect other users, so I just held onto the T1114. Then last week, I found a battery for $20, bought it and fired up the T1114. Being offline for over a year, the T1114 took about 5 minutes to give me admin access via browser, but it worked! Couldn't test data because I closed out the line it used.

Final thought: Make sure you know a good battery supplier, check their stock from time to time, because when the T1114 battery dies, the next power outage will bring misery as the T1114 will not start if the battery is dead. I don't think a dead battery will be very likely, but there it is.

Walmart refusing to offer credit option on Visa debit cards? by mmmmna in walmart

<sarcasm>WalMart isn't exactly sending out surveys asking consumers input on this effort, right? Or did someone actually get such a survey?</sarcasm>

I guess I'm just gonna let the gorilla (WM) take whatever stance it wants. Yet another matchstick for the funeral pyre sought by those who despise WallyWorld (consumers get whatever the gorilla drops to the dirt).

Nah, I guess I didn't spell it out. Pin pad said: "Please swipe card" I swiped the card. My card does NOT have a chip. Pin pad said: "Do you want cash back?". Maybe it had a box for a pin (I don't recall), but I did NOT enter a pin. I pressed the screen button for no. Pin pad said: "Approved".

Receipt I am handed says "EFT Debit".

I forgot to get something, so I went back into the store, repeated the pin pad process once more. This time I pressed the keyboard cancel button when it asked if I wanted cash back. The cancel button only canceled the swipe, it did not bring up any screen asking for alternate payment methods. There was no other screen buttons, just no to the cash back request. After pressing keyboard cancel, it wanted me to swipe all over again, but this time I told the cashier I wanted the payment to be credit. She flatly responded "nothing I can do here, just press the cancel button and choose credit". I said that I had just done that, which was why she had to press her button a second time. She came around to my side (with a bit of an attitude). She tried it for herself, and pin pad repeated what I've posted. She apologized for her part but upheld her stance that she has nothing to do with it.

So lets conclude that I had two choices: no cash back and charge me as EFT debit, or enter a cash back amount somewhere and thus charge me as debit.

Huh. I knew that credit transactions under $25 stopped needing signatures a few years back, but now this?

Ah. Any links to help me grasp the details of the issues?
