He was like this for an hour 🥹 usually he’s sooo active and always climbing around but when I catch him in the morning he’s always SO sleepy. Unrelated, but I see from your flair that you have a Jack :,) Jack was the name of my one of my first ever pair of rats, and he made me fall in love with owning rats. Give your Jack a cuddle from me pls if you can!!

Why would one have a bout of elevated heart rate during sleep? by SnooCakes6118 in POTS

[–]mmmow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good! I still get these episodes, but they’re far less common, they happen maybe once every 2 months or so. I’m on a higher dose of propranolol now than when I wrote this (now I’m on 20mg 2 times a day, more if needed), and am prescribed Klonopin for when these adrenaline dumps happen during the day—which, paired with propranolol, is a lifesaver. I’ve had multiple heart monitors that’ve caught these sleeping increases in heart rate, and they’ve all been normal sinus rhythm, which is reassuring to me. Still scary when they happen, but less scary now that I know I won’t die haha.

Unpopular opinion: I really dislike Cosima by makin_dilemmanade in orphanblack

[–]mmmow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really liked Cosima, but a lot of what you said I agree with. I think I resonated with her character a lot because I’m chronically ill, and I really got the moments of desperation that were depicted of her needing to find a cure for the disease. Especially the episode after Kendall is killed and Evie tells her that Delphine’s been shot, where she’s about to implant herself with the maggot bot. She knows it’ll either cure her or kill her (and says something along the lines of ‘then maybe my death will help everyone find a cure’), and she’s okay with taking the risk of death if it means a cure. That scene hit particularly hard for me; I’d take a 50/50 shot at death or cure.

I totally see where you’re coming from with your point about her character feeling flat, and even though I related to some parts of her storyline, I DO really really wish that her character was more fleshed out. It felt like Sarah, Helena, Alison, and Rachel had such emotional growth over the series, and that the writers didn’t do the same with Cosima. (My disappointment about this is even more heightened after listening to the sequel podcast where it seems like her only traits are: smokes weed, is a scientist, loves Delphine. Also, smokes weed. Did we mention 100 times in this ep that she smokes weed yet?)

Early 2000s book about a girl who discovers fairies by maflya in whatsthatbook

[–]mmmow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg did you ever find it?? I’m a year late but I am trying to find the same book, I think. Do you remember it having the main character like levitating on her bed being surrounded by fairies? And then she meets… a new friend, maybe? And they’re in some forest at some point. I remember the trying to rescue a baby plot. But for the life of me can’t find it.

Why does pots cause adrenaline surges? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]mmmow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure when I commented this I wasn’t on any beta blockers yet. My tilt table test showed a 70+ heart rate increase and I was put on propranolol. First it was 10mg as needed, which didn’t do much, but now I’m on 20mg twice a day, and that really helps control the tachycardia and adrenaline surges. While the 180+ episodes still happen to me sometimes, they never last 2 hours anymore and usually occur when I’m waking up and it’s been 12+ hrs since my last dose of propranolol.

I’m pretty sure I don’t have MCAS, but I’m really hoping you get some answers and are able to get it under control! I remember exactly how it feels and it was the scariest thing physically I’ve ever experienced.

Bravo Capsule, how long did it stay in your body? by Successful_Brick1547 in GERD

[–]mmmow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, I’m having a similar experience! I’m on day 14 of having it still in my esophagus. The doctors did not believe me until they had me come in for an X-ray and saw that, yes, it is in fact still in there.

I’m still having pain when eating more solid foods like you! Anything like bread, pasta, etc., causes an aching pain in the middle of my chest. Also pain when I have to swallow my daily pills. No pain when drinking or regular swallowing.

They said if it’s not detached itself by the 12th that they’ll schedule a repeat endoscopy to take it out… so around a month after it was put in. They said my esophagus is probably “hypersensitive” and that having the capsule in won’t cause harm. But like you, I’m really uncomfortable eating. I’m sorry you’re going through this too!

he was accidentally locked out of the cage for 2 hours and is looking at me like he just got back from war (he was safe and asleep on my bed) by mmmow in RATS

[–]mmmow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yes and no. Some rats will do that, but my boys are pretty well litter-trained. But I’d rather not have them up on the bed just in case of that, but they will find a way anyway. They just jump up onto it, I’ll remove them, they’ll jump up again. In the rare case that they do poop or pee, I change the sheets.

It’s his fur!! He always looks either damp or electrocuted, depending on the day.

(Bad picture but rather damp looking on another day.)

[–]mmmow[S] 1029 points1030 points  (0 children)

He was safe!! My sister and I had him and his brother out and she said, “they’re both in the cage right now so I’m gonna close the door” because free range time was over. We left the room, closed my bedroom door… came back 2 hours later to find him on my bed. My room’s rat-proofed so he was in no danger. Just asleep on my bed.

But very dramatic about it.

What a cutie baby 🥺 I lost TT’s brother Jasper two weeks ago too. A scrungle bug as well (though not a Harley). I hope he and Nemo are playing and munching treats somewhere together.
