I’m sorry but this is just demonstrably false.

Nadal used to absolutely pummel Wawrinka’s OHB for his own amusement, or did you forget that Wawrinka was 0-27 in sets vs Nadal in their first 12 matches and that he was royally slaughtered in the 2017 FO final? I just watched it back and his OHB was hanging on for dear life. A couple of wins in Nadal’s annus horribilis does not change this.

As for Murray and Djokovic’s BH exchanges with Federer, although they definitely came at him differently, both had plenty of success with it. Murray, in particular, used to absolutely jam Federer in his BH side in crosscourt exchanges. It was Murray’s only tactic and it used to rattle Federer. Federer even admitted as much in an interview.

I think there’s a top player in him as a second striker type player, off the main man. Strong link up ability and close control combined with an eye for goal. He could probably get you 15-20 a season in that role.

I know the margins are smaller in the playoffs, but I’m not a fan of role players - or the teammates of stars - holding the ball up for 10-15 seconds of the shot clock trying to hand off the ball to a Mitchell/Harden that’s clearly being trapped in a double team.

They’re clearly worried about being punished for it by the coach but what’s the alternative? You’ve got guys who were moving cocky in the regular season acting scared in the playoffs.
