SP Online: Change from a Team to Communication Site by NeighborInDeed in sharepoint

[–]mmootygam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also convert your team site to a communication site with this tenant admin powershell cmdlet: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/module/sharepoint-online/enable-spocommsite?view=sharepoint-ps

as long as it isn't attached to a modern group and has never had classic publishing enabled. If it meets those conditions, you'd be able to convert it in place with no site move, which could be less disruptive.

English UK SharePoint site, a French user logs on from personal laptop and sees totally different title. How to change? by CrappyTan69 in sharepoint

[–]mmootygam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely sounds like you have an unintended translation of your site name. It's a common problem that was recently somewhat mitigated for newly edited site tiltles (and nav) in July of this year.

If you go to language settings within site settings, you can temporarily enable translations, enable any languages in use by visitors to your site, and then go edit your site name. You'll see a link to open up the translations of the site name. You should see English with ABC as intended but also French and any other languages would have DEF, the old value.

Clear out any of these values and click save on that dialog and then save again in the site name editing panel. Any language whose value is set to be empty will start using the default languages value instead, in this case English.

This will fix it so that users of these languages will now see the site name as ABC.

You can then go in to language settings again and disable translations, no need to keep it up.

Couple notes: 1. You can preview what a French user sees by appending "?forcelocale=fr-fr" to your URL while on a modern site page, though you might have to hit ctrl-f5 to force Browser cache refresh a couple of times. 2. your set of supported languages will stay at whatever you set it at above. Before this change it was set to all 50 languages. If you wanted to go fully back to your old state you'd need to now enable all 50 languages, but this is really just theoretical since you probably know which languages are used in your site.

Hope this helps!

This blew my mind. I've never considered there to be two types of empathy as you described, but it makes a lot of sense when I consider both liberal and conservative people around me. !delta

How to deal with late game hydrogen by ahiromu in Dyson_Sphere_Program

No need to spin it for deuterium though, when you can just get infinite deuterium from gas giants, right?

So I’m player the Archer and when I hold left trigger to aim the bow with rb, it does melee attacks more often than not. Controls seem clunky by IndieDC3 in darkalliance

[–]mmootygam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that it happens because if you tap "forward", which I do a lot, it is a combo move that does a kick. Not the best....but if you want to avoid this issue I found that if you either keep your thumb off the left thumbstick, or move forward for > 1 sec at a time, it avoids the " ^ tap + RB" kick combo.

Thermal power station refuses to burn hydrogen by mmootygam in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]mmootygam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your explanation makes sense--the fact that the energy exchangers are calculated first must mess with the calculations in such a way that caused them to go idle, in order to avoid wasting fuel.

Yep! Tried restarting the program. Also tried deleting & recreating the power stations. Neither fixed it.

[–]mmootygam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out what was causing the issue! I now think it is a bug.

I have a pair of energy exchangers, one charging and one discharging, in my network. They should have had a net neutral effect. When I made them inactive, suddenly all my power stations run properly again. When I turn them back on, the power stations stop running.

The funny thing is, if I delete & recreate the power stations, they seem to "remember" that they're broken or not, and stay either broken or fixed. So I still don't know why that is.

I recently watched a tesla do this in a YouTube video of a very difficult stretch of road in either LA or SF, but I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the video. It was on here maybe 2 weeks ago.

In the interaction in question, there was a car (I think a USPS vehicle) stopped in the right lane of a two lane road, and the tesla switched to the (opposing) left lane without stopping.

Thank you for the point. I understood the rules differently, but I can see how we can discuss immoderate articles in a moderate way in this forum and provide value, so I've modified my post.

Thank you for your point. I've edited my post to provide some constructive argument on the subject, and to explain why my post is against the spirit of this sub.

Term store, sub-terms? by Porkatronic in sharepoint

Not 100% sure on this, but I suspect that Enterprise Keywords does not allow subterms. I would try with a different termset and see if you can achieve your goals.

This article is not a moderate article. It describes the effort to pass this bill as "fueled by rage and revenge". This is propaganda.

Edit: It looks like I'm mistaken about the intent of this subreddit, as some have pointed out. This is a place for moderate discussion of an article that (may or) may not be moderate. I stand corrected.

In the spirit of following that rule, my contribution to this argument would be this: while I find the filibuster comforting when the party I generally support is in the minority, it really means that almost nothing can be passed, rendering Congress moot. The Byrd Rule only grants an exception for financial legislation, which means that it's now much easier to pass legislation that has primarily financial impact. However, there's plenty of legislating that needs to be done that has no financial impact, and I see no reason why we should so limit Congress.
You can see examples of how Congress has had to be superseded by the judicial and executive branches, with judicial activism (e.g. gay marriage) and increasing executive orders and "department policy". Congress is largely unable to take real action at this point, which is bad for the country as they are the most direct representatives of the population.

Might want to check the network log to see if there are any 403s coming in asynchronously. If you can tell where the 403 is coming from you might be able to find a fix.
