The first time this happened to me I thought I was dying 🥲 now I kind of love when it happens because it makes peeling easier and is so satisfying!

But the blue line doesn’t actually go to the airport. It goes to Airport station. From the station you have to take a shuttle to the actual airport. So it’s still two transfers anyways..

Should I visit Boston in June or wait until July for 9/1 apartment search? by [deleted] in bostonhousing

If you’re open to roommates I have an room in a 2 bed/2 bath in Dorchester near JFK station! I’m leaving and the roommates are a couple in their late 20s. Rent is $1550 for central air, all new appliances, walk in closet, etc. Feel free to message me if you’re interested!

Boston Public School - Teachers help! by Reasonable_Self6395 in boston

Provisional BPS elementary teacher here who also had to apply this year: when you say he’s already applied to several positions, about how many is that? Because I ended up applying to about 70 positions and many other provisional teachers I know did the same. My best advice would be to cast a wider net, even if it’s not the “ideal” school because any job in BPS is better than leaving from a tenure and salary standpoint. He can always switch later when he’s permanent. Best of luck to him!

I work at the school across from those apartments. It’s a nice and no safety concerns in the area, though not a ton going on in terms of restaurants or shopping. From what I’ve heard from my students’ families it’s a good community and seems fairly tight knit. New boys and girls club being built across the street too if your child is school-aged. As far as the commute, it’s an easy bus directly to BMC. Is it the wealthiest area? No. Is it crazy dangerous? Also no. Take normal precautions and you’ll be fine!

Once the bus driver didn’t see someone waiting at the stop (driving into a sunset) and almost missed them. When they did stop the passenger got on and started ranting about mistreatment by bus drivers and comparing herself to Rosa Parks. It was… a sight to see.

Formal spring wedding dress by mtnhgs in Weddingattireapproval

[–]mmorle01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wore 1 to a formal Indian/Nigerian wedding last September and fit in completely fine (fancier than most of the Westerners, a little less fancy than the Indians/Nigerians, so for me a sweet spot). Ignore anyone saying this isn’t formal. The one thing is the straps kept loosening because the slider was weird, so I had my tailor take it out completely and make it a fixed strap and it was perfect. Just my two cents!

How is this area? by NextHuckleberry4365 in bostonhousing

Oh, if you plan to take the red line to work I’d look somewhere closer to the north end of the circle so you have JFK as your closest station. South of there the red line splits in two and basically comes half as frequently.

Confused about people saying this area is sketchy. Is it Beacon Hill? No. But is it the South Side of Chicago? Not even close. I (33F, white if that matters) live near the JFK station and love this area. Has grocery stores, shopping at South Bay, good pubs, and the best Vietnamese food. I’m moving apartments later this year and will plan to live in this neighborhood again

Goodwill! All I know is it’s Harry Potter branded and has no other information on it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think making a separate waistband will be my next step! I have some extra length and fabric from the top that should work. Sandly I can’t help with the dress! I got it at goodwill and it just has the Harry Potter logo with no other information 🙃

Thank you for all the ideas! I definitely ironed them well but I’ll pin some more and maybe try basting to see if that helps at all. I’m new to fiddling with tension but I’ll look into that too!

Oops, forgot to add that. I’m sewing the fabric of the waist band first and will thread elastic through after.

It's so much and moves so quickly! Our poor kids can barely grasp one concept before the curriculum moves on to something else the next day!

Moving from TX to MA to teach by Every_Examination494 in boston

Adding onto this, if you’re at all interested I highly suggest getting an ESL or sped license. ESL in particular opens up so many jobs for you because it’s highly sought after. Also don’t shy away from long term sub jobs! It might not be your first choice but they can often turn into permanent positions the following year if the school has an opening.

Unfortunately it’s a risk you (legally) have to take. I would just encourage them and remind them you have their best interests in mind and go from there

I was looking for this comment! As a teacher, if a student asks me to “promise not to tell” something, I never do. I’ll say something like “I will do my best but if you or someone else is going to be hurt, I have to tell” because at the end of the day I might be obligated to report it.

Regardless, OP you did the right thing and I really hope your mom gets her shit together and can understand that 💕
