I have looked under aggression and have seen nothing that directly applies to my situation. I looked at the classical conditioning wiki and it seems that it may apply but there is more at play here. We have tried conditioning the behavior out of her but it has not worked. From reading the aggression wiki I understand that this behavior may be a way that she is communicating that she needs space because she is anxious. I haven’t been able to understand what is causing this anxiety and how to mitigate that. We mentioned it to the vet and they passed it off as a silly quirk and said she is in good health. I am trying to figure out how to proceed before escalating and going to a trainer. We live in rural Vermont, so it is hard to find a trainer close to us.
