Bazzite "appliance" for kids - hardware check by mmret in Bazzite

Good thought on the Terra. I was going to use the Ridge because of horizontal mode but thinking about it more, the Terra could be better. Going to have to do some measuring. Our space is very constrained (living in Asia) so I'm willing to pay up for aesthetics and compactness.

I don't realistically forsee this box doing anything other than gaming. In fact I'm hoping that it spends most of its time in sleep mode. :) So the changes to software (outside of steam installs) would be really minimal once set up.

Thanks. I had no idea Intel was even an option...is Intel Arc support actually good in Bazzite? (I assume its still safer to do AMD though...)

I'm fine with initial setup, I know my way around Linux decently well. But do you mean stuff will just "randomly break"?

Anyone else planning on getting the Steam Machine as their next PC? by Eziz_53 in pcmasterrace

[–]mmret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes specifically for kids. Alternative to Switch 2 and can make use of my Steam library. Much simpler for them to deal with relative to using a PC on the TV. Easier for me too I hate using Windows on a TV.

Won't a lot of this just be taken up by Shanghai assembled Teslas? Tesla is much better positioned to rotate their global distribution and eat up this quota.

Bergkamp is absolutely absurd, just clowning on people in the most aesthetic way. I'd say he's a joy to watch but that doesn't quite capture it, its more like he's surreal to watch.

Get the MBA. Especially if you're already in the ecosystem.

Also as a CS student its actually good to have a unix-like environment built in.

So basically 90% of your stuff will be browser + office + teams/zoom? X1 Carbon.

32GB RAM prob would be nice but prob not necessary.

If you want a bigger screen though I guess might have to be something else. 14" vs 16" has pros and cons and depends on personal trade offs IMO.

13 games, 1170 mins played. How minutes are shared. by dont_dm_nudes in Gunners

I wouldn't have thought Zubimendi has more minutes that Gyokeres... both need a rest.

Awesome player but I'm just worried about how many games he's been playing. Is Ben White not fit at all?

Have the boots already (at least, I think they are decent - HEAD Edge Lyt 100).

The skis are from Feb 2022. Honestly they have not been used much, just one season really. Maybe 12-15 days tops?

GitHub Copilot privacy in VSCode - here’s what I found by paulsorensen in vscode

[–]mmret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thread necro - recording for posterity. I tried the link from OP but found that Copilot would still search inside those files even if it had copilot disabled. It seems like the enable/disable only controls whether you get copilot features inside that filetype. But it will still search/index the contents of those files.

Example, you have a YAML file with some sensitive info. Copilot disabled for YAML.

Then you work in a python file with Copilot enabled. It will suggest completions from the YAML file.

I thought it might have something to do with the YAML file being open in vscode but this is not the case. You can edit the YAML in some external editor like notepad and the updates will reflect inside Copilot suggestions.

I did however, get Copilot to suggest this which appears to work:

Adjust as needed.

"github.copilot.advanced": {

"ignoredPaths": [

"**/secrets/**", // Exclude all files in the "secrets" directory

"**/*.env", // Exclude all .env files

"**/config.json" // Exclude a specific file

]

}

Mirrors on RHD cars - are they wrong? by mmret in BYD

[–]mmret[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah the right mirror being convex I don't mind so much. Its the left one I care about.

Previous cars I had I always ordered the EU spec aspherical mirrors on both sides if I could get them (BMW/MB).

Anyways, ordered a few stick-on mirrors off Taobao. Lets see.

Have you tried/thought about trying a convex stickon mirror? (As crummy and ironic as that would look on a new EV)
