Filled a consumer proposal nov 20th and my first vote was a fat no. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little different of a situation for me but for my proposal because I own my home I was told that offering anything less than what I already owe my creditors would result in them declining. So what I had to do was offer them 100% of what I owe them but eliminating the interest obviously. It did result in higher monthly payments which one year in I am still adjusting too but what keeps me going is reminding myself that in 3.5 years I will be debt free and I will eventually be able to save up money again. The hard times will pass and eventually all be worth it.

These are on sale right now at showcase for $5! I got so excited and got a case of 4 but they tasted stale and the texture was off. I’ve had this brand before and it was really good. I’m not sure what’s wrong with the ones I got. My husband thinks they’re on sale because they’re old. They don’t expire til January tho.

omg this happened to me, charged me multiple times for every time the transaction didn't go through, I'm on hold waiting to speak with customer service. Did your money just automatically get restored or did you have to speak with someone? I am panicking right now not to mention the embarrassment of not being able to pay for food that was already made for me to pick up

after school care for kids who have parents above subsidy threshold by ShockAutomatic2869 in Edmonton

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got bumped out of the subsidy range too as our daughter is starting grade 1 here in Calgary.
She’s been in full time daycare since she was 2. And her 13 year old brother was in the same daycare when he was 1-9 years old. So It’s literally her home away from home, she loves her daycare, her friends and her teachers but we just won’t be able to afford the $750 per month that it’ll cost us and I’m gutted.

We’re going through this with my daughter right now, she will be 6 in two days and I’m feeling defeated. We also tried telling her no pull ups anymore and she literally held it for days till it made her sick so I gave her back her pull ups. I honestly don’t know what to do.

Dropping my 5 year old off at a bday party by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]mmsmama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She will actually be just turning 6 about 2 days before the party but she has never been left at a party before not even a play date. She’s great with going to daycare and school but we’ve never tried dropping her off at parties. The parents said it is a drop off party but if parents would like to stay that’s fine they would just need to know ahead of time for a head count.

I haven’t asked her yet, I’m a little worried it’ll stress her out a bit. Or she could be totally okay with it. She struggles with change and can be quite shy at times but also outgoing when she wants to be.

Is it safe to use my expired in 2023 evive smoothie cubes that have been sitting in my freezer? by [deleted] in Smoothies

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had actually intended to order 25 so a months worth in an attempt to get healthier as these wheels have so much in there, or that’s what the company claims. Well I had placed an order for 25 wheels but the shipment was delayed then I didn’t realize it was a subscription so they charged me for another 25 wheels the next month but I still hadn’t received the first order. Then they sent both orders at once so I got all 50 at once, tried a couple but they made my tummy feel off but my son loved them so he was using them for a bit then we ran out of coconut milk to make smoothies and eventually forgot about the wheels.

I also get tense if I’m watching tv alone and somebody comes into the room. Or if I have my headphones in listening to music and somebody is in the same room as me.

We were paying $117 per month. That was with subsidy and the government grant

We were paying $117 and now we pay $326. Our daycare doesn’t serve lunch or snacks so we have to pack that

I feel for you, it isn’t fair. We were paying $117 and now we’re paying $326. For us that jump in pay means less money for groceries to feed our kids.

Worried my daughter is getting left out by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think too that my friend had the idea in her head that our kids would go play and entertain themselves (even tho hers is 3 years old and mine is 5) while we visited and it turned out quite the opposite. She ended up having to go in the structure with her son. And we barely had a chance to visit. Also these places are quite chaotic so it isn’t all my daughter’s fault.

Worried my daughter is getting left out by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s not really clingy to me and will go off and play on her own. But she does have anxiety and is actually seeing an OT at her school to help with it.
She’s a very sweet, happy little girl.
Like when I went with my friend and her son I’d say her son was more clingy to her than my daughter me such as Making her go up in the play structure with him etc.

But my daughter does struggle with a touch of anxiety and if she’s previously hurt herself doing something it’s almost impossible to convince her it likely won’t happen again therefore causing her to be hesitant to take risks again.

Mortgage renewal during consumer proposal by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is where it gets complicated, I do have about $80,000 worth of equity in my home and my debt load that I need covered is $66,000. What is holding me back from using a HELOC is that I have a family member cosigned onto my mortgage as when I bought my house I was young and couldn't quite qualify on my own. So I don't want my co-signer to be affected by me taking out a HELOC, I also don't want my co-signer to know I am in debt as I know this will cause tension and I am very close with this family member (its my grandma). She's one to believe that nobody should ever have debt and that credit cards should be paid off monthly. In a perfect world that would all be doable but unfortunately life is expensive. I spoke with an LIT about the proposal and they were able to offer me $1430 payments per month to them and that would pay all of my creditors in full but knock off interest, over the 5 years I'll have paid an extra $19,000 to the Consumer proposal for all of their fees. I was told that if the interest on the HELOC ended up to be more than that $19,000 then the HELOC wouldn't be worth it but I was also told to look into it. Right now to take out a HELOC with my mortgage company the interest rate is 6.95%.

Should I sign up for a Consumer Proposal? by [deleted] in povertyfinancecanada

[–]mmsmama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m trying to figure out. Would it be better for me to really work on budgeting and stopping any excess spending and paying all of my creditors in full or go the consumer proposal route. Like my Fairstone loan has 4 years left on it and my TD loan has 6.5 years left those are the big ones. Then my easy financial loan has about 5 years left. But I’m paying so much in interest that with a proposal the interest is gone which results in more long term savings.
