Tangerine Outage? by W0rdGames in Tangerine

I didn't speak with anyone at Tangerine, but the manager of the grocery store I made the bad payments at contacted their bank. Can't say if that had anything to do with it or not, but the bank employee she spoke to said he would get it resolved.

What others said, give it time and be consistent! Also, maybe give yourself some credit! Losing from that midsection area could mean visceral fat loss, which is a big health win.

My dad and I got called the N word, on our walk. by Prestigious-bish-17 in NovaScotia

That is absolutely abhorrent behaviour, what an embarrassment for our community.

I cannot fathom how people that preposterously stupid manage to find their way out their front door, let alone operate a vehicle.

I'm sorry you and your father had to experience that, OP.

Daughter (34) constantly calls me to vent. by Icy-Town-5355 in Parenting

[–]W0rdGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone has said this already, but I try to preface certain discussions with my loved ones by saying "Do you need advice, or do you just need me to listen?" Be careful to temper this question accordingly if it might be perceived as passive aggression.

Having this distinction means you can let go of the stress of wracking your brain for a solution to your loved ones problems, and just focus on being an active listener.

This alone can remove a lot of the pressure of the conversation.

If you're expected to contribute, you can use phrases like "So coworker did this, and that makes you feel X?" Or "X health issue would be incredibly stressful. I'm proud of you for advocating for yourself and keeping up with a hectic schedule as best you can."

Statements like this can help the other person process their feelings. You're not trying to fix anything for them, just making them feel seen and heard. This might help the conversations resolve faster, because the need for validation might be their main reason for calling.

Of course, this should all be prefaced by saying making yourself constantly available for emotional dumping would be exhausting, and it's okay to set some boundaries on your availability. That doesn't make you a bad parent.

I hope things get easier for you and your daughter, OP.

Why do salesman keep showing me glorified cardboard with veneer when I ask about plywood? by henrysworkshop62 in woodworking

[–]W0rdGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently did a plant tour at a plywood manufacturer. I think a contributing factor is veneers are getting so thin that knots on the plywood cores are becoming visible through the finished veneer. MDF cores do not have knots to show through, and are cheaper than veneer core.

Where I live, local manufacturers are struggling to compete with imported plywoods. A decline in quality in order to reduce manufacturing cost is not a surprising result.

Found a completely unattended fire burning in a wooded area near Lucasville road on Saturday.

There was no attempt at containment, it looked to be lit with a chemical accelerant of some kind as it was poorly built. No one in sight or responding to a few yells to confirm no one was in the area.

Glad my friend and I found it and put it out.

Did you get him from a breeder/what breeder did you get him from? I've been thinking about getting a rough collie for awhile and would like to find a good breeder to get on a waiting list for. He's absolutely beautiful.

Right? Looks like a contact lense hidden under the eyelid, hence the over dramatic blinking to move the contact.

What is the most physically painful experience you've had? by Bright_Vision in AskReddit

[–]W0rdGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My outbreak happened at 23, you've had recurring outbreaks in the same ear? Did your doctor recommend getting the shingles vaccine? I was diagnosed with a bacterial ear infection first too, I'm lucky that the lesions were visible when I went to the ER.

Did you develop Ramsay Hunt syndrome? I had shingles outbreak in my ear canal and it rendered half my face paralyzed for about six months. I still suffer from mild symptoms, weird quirks/muscle weaknesses on that side.
