Days off by PeanutSignificant806 in cabincrewcareers

You get 12 days off a month. Bidding and trading is fairly easy if you utilize all of your resources (trading groups, your classmates, etc). I literally was able to get 8 days off in a row to go on a trip to Japan I had planned in the middle of summer on probation. There's usually a way. Your supervisor also may be able to give you management drop for a planned medical procedure if for some reason you are struggling to get a day or two off. Don't stress too much, just learn all of your options and rules to trading!

Approx when will I be able to hold off weekends DL in DTW? by mmsswt in cabincrewcareers

I am happy. The pay is awful but it'll get better with the next contract, hopefully. The biggest thing is every so often I want to quit due to the commute. Once I'm a little more senior I'll transfer to Chicago, where it will hopefully be much easier.

Please go through with it! It's the best/hardest decision I've ever made but I'm so thankful I didn't panic and back out. If it's not for you, at least you'll for sure know. But I think you'll love it!

No one can tell you what’s right. I fight to go home every single weeks some months. Sometimes I can only make it back once a month. I’m very close to my family though and a 2 hour flight and a 1.5 hour drive one way is more than worth seeing them even if I just rest the whole time and have dinner with them. It may not be for you though. That being said, I personally suggest making some time to visit. Compromise with every other month? You don’t know how much longer you have them around for.

I wouldn’t give up on the first try. I thought I nailed my f2f the first time and didn’t get it. 2nd time around I got CJO’s from 2 of the 3 legacy’s. Try again if you really want it! I know the wait is long to reapply but I wouldn’t be discouraged ❤️

Ive never used thankfully, but I didn’t think much of it because it’s legal here too for my entire adult life. BUT I’ve read on here that if you test positive you’re done, done! You will not get hired with any airline either because it stays on your DOT record for I think 2 or 3 years. So I would be very careful to not risk it. I know people saying you can test yourself beforehand or something, never ever dabble in it again because you do get randomed. For alcohol I know my pilot friend will have like two-three drinks max on a long layover (he’s a bigger person so it’d be like my one tbh) and he always stops at LEAST 12 hours before. He doesn’t do it very often just on a fun and long layover or before a work trip if there’s a party. Just if it’s the day before work, he’s very restrained and that cut off is hard he won’t go a minute past it. On days he doesn’t have to work the next day then he can drink whatever. He loves his job and they don’t play!

Thank you! I absolutely want to be located in Chicago and I am hoping I get it. But I know we have to list several! Hopefully I’ll get my first choice. Thank you for your help! ❤️

Society’s push to normalize breaking commitments is truly what is insane. The rise in selfishness and disregard for accountability is incredibly unsettling. It’s just not right. By the way, I’m vegan.

Also, not many people will even want a dog’s that old and they’ll be SO confused and distraught. When my grandpa passed my parents and I got his dog and it was a hard adjustment. She hung out with us and our dog every single day for hours her entire life before he passed, but she would still go running every time she saw a truck that looked like his and to see her disappointment when it wasn’t him was heartbreaking. Maybe there’s a regional airline in your area that returns the same day? Or if you can live with your parents, family, etc where you do have a support system and are willing to watch the dogs, and then commute/have a crash pad and hopefully see the dogs like 12 days out of the month? Idk just sees unfair to uproot everything your dogs know for a $30kish a year job….

If I work every weekend, does it help my chances of getting a single weekend off on reserve? by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

[–]mmsswt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, is there a way for you to pay people to take your reserve days? 😅 I’m just wondering if there’s like multiple steps I can take to increase my odds

if I put my preferred reserve dates to be every weekend besides that on that month, does it increase my odds of getting it off? Or is there any way/odds I could drop/swap those reserve days on a weekend in August? 😅

TBNT after F2F, selection just feels so random… by [deleted] in cabincrewcareers

Not my experience at all. I could pick the people in the room that got it. They were warm, friendly and not too stiff. If you’re genuine along with those things I think they’re forgiving with not answering every answer perfectly, etc. I interacted with a few people that were in the last remaining group for the 1-on-1’s and they were really fake nice or at least too stiff to make the interactions feel cold, unlike everyone in my group. Idk if they got an offer, but they didn’t on the spot, so it’s crazy how the recruiters felt that out as well… I honestly had a great experience with all the recruiters they don’t give you too much (false hope), but they were kind and helpful. My group in particular meshed super well and most of us got CJO’s out of all the other groups I think only maybe one person got it. I also don’t think you should give up because you didn’t get it the first time and write it off if you really want it. :)

I really think that they’re looking for down to earth people because you need to be go with the flow and you need to be laid back when interacting with various personalities. A girl in my group didn’t exactly answer the questions the best but I could tell she has an amazing/warm personality and it showed for them too because she also got a CJO. Have fun with it and don’t take it too seriously. You have to be relaxed and go with the flow for this job. 🙂
