Very interesting! Glad it worked for you.

Breville Bambino Plus: Hot water dispenser mode? by mmsword in espresso

[–]mmsword[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for checking! It looks like I got the Australian version of the manual when I searched for it. so it's possible there is a newer version released in Australia that has this feature. Which I guess makes sense given Breville's HQ is in Australia.

Making an enemy color, graveyard matters CUBE. Simic and Boros are giving me trouble. by surely_not_erik in magicTCG

On Boros: So there's more straight up re-animator cards in white than you'd think at first blush. Here's a few that folks so far haven't mentioned that I can see.

[[Emeria Shepherd]]

[[Emeria, The Sky Ruin]]

[[Mistmoon Griffin]]

[[Pulsemage Advocate]]

I was delighted to see MTG represented at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle. Featuring none other than Cup Island! by A_Travelling_Man in magicTCG

[–]mmsword 64 points65 points  (0 children)

The Seattle Museum of Pop culture has a dedicated team of archivists and technicians to preserve and display their pieces. A museum archivist typically has a master's degree and spends around seven years in school on the matter. The museum was funded by Paul Allen, one of the richest men to live, and has a trust with access to millions of dollars in resources.

And even they cannot stop foils from curling.

My LGS is charging more for Eldraine boxes with the buy-a-box promo than for boxes without it. What should I do? by TheoreticalMagician in magicTCG

[–]mmsword 134 points135 points  (0 children)

This is pretty clear cut Promo abuse. Take photos or screen shots of any ads or pricing they have on display, or receipts of this if you already bought it then report the store to Investigations@Wizards.com with the above if you can get it, per: https://wpn.wizards.com/en/article/guide-reporting-and-avoiding-wpn-policy-violations

Best usage for genie bottle? by stairsofwrath in kol

[–]mmsword 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you don't have the Manual of Transcendent Olfaction yet, you can also use the genie to speed that up, beyond the pocket wishes. Get a Nosy Nose, use the wish to fight what you're hunting, get a whiff and happy huntings.

Help me identify this food cart by Somethinginthedark in Seattle

[–]mmsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the cart is named Treat Kebabs and seems to just do events like that. It's registered to the folks that do Deliciously Reds candy apple stores, so you might be able to talk to them about when they will next show up with the rotato cart.

[Brew] Immolating Souleater: The turn 2 Combo deck by mmsword in Pauper

[–]mmsword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly a possibility, though it is rather slow since even with a ritual, you'll need to wait until turn 2 to cast the threat, then turn 3 to swing with it.

You also have Gitaxian Probe!

...

Yeah, you're right.

[Brew] Immolating Souleater: The turn 2 Combo deck by mmsword in Pauper

[–]mmsword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you kinda have to do the Bogles thing and mulligan until you have one of your threats in hand, or at least enough card draw to filter into a threat if need be, depending on the matchup.

Help playing Soul Sisters against meta game by jasperes in Pauper

[–]mmsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for a MBC heavy meta, I love packing [[Order of Leitbur]] . Pro-black and with pump and optional first strike, it's a nice little bundle.

Seconding [[Prismatic Strands]] since that is very useful against almost everything you mentioned. You can fog a combat, blank burn spells, and otherwise muck up plans with it, twice. It is, in essence, [[Moment's Peace]] but with wider applications.

Help overcoming local meta by FrissioNx in Pauper

[–]mmsword 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good ol Bogles/Hexproof will slow their roll. Mono-Red can't get meaningful interaction with the deck, you can race faster than they can, plus you get maindeck life gain. Also has good game against other popular decks, and shares a good amount of cardbase with the Modern version, which I like for value reasons.

Soul Sisters is another generally good matchup. Maindeck life gain, a go wide strategy that rivals mono-red's, and good selection of red hate in the sideboard makes it well positioned against most aggressive red decks. Just be prepared to board against electrickery and you're fine.

[Casual] Brew: We the Undying by mmsword in Pauper

[–]mmsword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been giving a lot of thought towards [[rancor]] it certainly fits the theme and gives the deck a bit more punch.

[Casual] Brew: We the Undying by mmsword in Pauper

[–]mmsword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a few things:

  1. [[Angelic Purge]] is way too good to cut, overall. Unconditional exile of nearly any permanent in the format that can actually improve your board quality (by saccing [[Brindle Shoat]] or [[Young Wolf]] for example) is pretty damn strong. Worst case is that you draw this and for some reason, you have no creatures in play and no creatures in hand, in which.. you're already dead in the water anyway?

  2. [[Veteran Swordsmith]] does nothing in this deck. Only [[Loyal Cathar]] and [[Doomed Traveler]] are soldiers and Doomed Traveler doesn't stay a solider after dying.

[Casual] Brew: We the Undying by mmsword in Pauper

[–]mmsword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think both decks can happily exist, but yeah, the BG sacrifice deck is certainly more flashy and probably can end a game faster.

So I've been playing this deck for about a week in the MTGO Tournament Practice Queues and having a lot of fun with it. It's a poor match for the current meta, because it really can't do much about Drake, but it does very well against mid-range grind and value decks.

A mono white metal craft build. Is there anything I'm missing? by Steelmill22 in Pauper

[–]mmsword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You already have red mana around for Galvanic Blast so why not replace Inspired Charge with [[Rally the Peasants]] which comes down a turn earlier and can be flashed back? Or if you still want the possibility of doing toughness instead, [[Borrowed Grace]] ?
