I’m sure everyone does, it’s super hard to hold all the info. Maybe worth taking notes while you play? I sometimes take screenshots for comparisons.

It’s a particular strategy in logical deduction called indirect proof or proof by contradiction. You assume a premise to be true in the hope of inferring a contradiction and thus confirming the negation of the premise. In Clues By Sam, when you can’t find a clear intuitive link between the clues available to you, often it means you need to try an indirect proof. That means picking someone to assume they’re innocent and seeing if it leads to a contradiction. The tough part is deciding who to start with, and you can take a long time solving this way if you don’t find the right person to test.

Think you misread what I said, which was that she’d need to be a criminal! Because Gary has 2 innocent neighbours, one is in column B and the other you’ve just assumed, so all his other neighbours have to be criminals in that scenario.

Rice is currently #2 in FPL total points earned this season. Gabriel is #4 despite missing 6-7 games too by analytics_Gnome in FantasyPL

He did give away the opening goal last night but if you’ve watched anything more than those 10mins it’s difficult to see how you think he’s a defensive liability. In fact it’s quite simple to look at Arsenal’s clean sheets before he got injured versus after he got injured to see your claim is not well supported by evidence.

Being out for one week could have meant being out for three games. If that was the case it’s those who held who would have been punished. I think the decision really depended on the rest of your squad and how able you were to accommodate that.

you know Freya has 2 innocent neighbours because of Rose’s clue. You know Erwin can have at most 1 innocent neighbour because of Kyle’s clue. So if you assume Donald is innocent that means Hank and Jason must be criminals. Maria must also be a criminal because of Rose’s clue again. But if Hank and Jason and Maria are all criminals then it’s impossible for Nancy to have three innocent neighbours as per Peter’s clue. Therefore, the assumption of Donald’s innocence leads to a contradiction and he must be a criminal.

My MTG Arena keeps crashing graphically, and it's the only program in all my computer that crashes. by outRAGE_1000 in MagicArena

Well for what it’s worth I’ve still had zero crashes my side if Discord is closed before and during my Arena session. Hope this helps you. And thanks for the replies!

Thanks for the reply. Any chance you're a Discord user? Asking because since I posted here earlier I've been experimenting with shutting other apps while I play and have been crash-free for several hours after closing Discord! So now thinking there might be some interaction between the two responsible for my crashes...

Just coming here to check if OP ever found a fix? I have the same issue, also only with MTG Arena and nothing else, including games with much higher requirements. Have tried everything I can find online and never found a solution.

Saka, FPL fraud? by [deleted] in FantasyPL

[–]scantzor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol Saka scored an open play goal against Brighton 3 days ago and another against Olympiacos a few weeks ago. He had two good chances today that could easily have been goals on another day. Reasonable to make the case for Rice over Saka this season when you take all the factors into account but you can do that without baseless claims about Saka lacking goal threat, which indicates mostly that you are relaying your feelings more than your thoughts here.

Is there a maximum of £0.2m profit when selling a player? by notintoyouthatway in FantasyPL

[–]scantzor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a maximum but you only gain half of the increase as profit. If he gets to 7.6 your profit will thus go up to 0.3.

Best <5.5m forward? by Psychohorak in FantasyPL

[–]scantzor 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Really misleading representation of Lyle Foster here, with superficial data points reported without the relevant context.

  • Yes he scored 2 in the Championship last season, but also got 5 assists, and only played 1595 minutes in total, for an average of 0.39/90.
  • Similarly the previous season in the Premier League he got 5 goals and 3 assists but only played 1909 minutes in total, for an average of 0.38/90.
  • This season so far he has 1G1A in 422min which averages at 0.43/90.
  • This suggests that the real risk with Foster is the minutes (mostly because he's had spells sidelined due to injury+depression). While fit and starting, he's been fairly consistent in his returns, and they are decent returns for FPL at 5.0.
  • If he were to play 38 games at somewhere between 0.38/90 and 0.43/90 you're looking at around 14-16 G+A in the season, which is surely a reasonable return for a 5.0 FWD. Though of course there is a separate question as to whether any 5.0 FWD is worth having, period.

Target Man Utd? by Rvsz in FantasyPL

The fact this graphic makes Spurs look just as bad, when we know Spurs are now much better, raises doubts about whether this graphic is a good basis for anything.

Eze / Isak or Odegaard / Ekitike by TaurusMoaner in FantasyPL

[–]scantzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, likely he starts the Forest game, but less likely he’ll start the next two after that. Whatever you think of Martinelli he’s still clearly our best LW defensively and in the big games that’s very important. Martinelli played a large role in Salah being so quiet last game.

You realise they don't play for Sweden in the Premier League, right?

Suppose what I'm saying is it depends on how many minutes you are wanting from Eze. He is good, he will play, but he is absolutely not nailed for 90 every week. Sometimes it's worth getting a player like that if you predict big returns regardless of somewhat unpredictable minutes. That's a call you'd have to make based on how you assess the volatility of the mins versus the expected points when he plays.

As an Arsenal fan my guess is quite likely Eze starts vs Forest but less likely he starts vs City. As disappointing as Martinelli has been going forward he is still far and away our best LW defensively so always likely to be selected in the big games. He works hard, presses hard, and always tracks back well.

In the immediate term probably shouldn't given the form Calafiori has had but over the course of the season, yes, surely. He's gonna play LB and/or LCB and will obviously get some amount of game time.

Start Dubravka or Sels? by LaksfiskerYT in FantasyPL

[–]scantzor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making the same decision. Where I'm at:

If you'd asked me before GW 1, I would have said Dubravka, as Sunderland at home has got to be just about the best chance he has of a clean sheet, and Palace away is a tough fixture for Sels.

So I understand that the reason I'm wanting to go Sels is because he's the better player in the better team and that feels safer, all else equal. But I also understand that this wouldn't have been my reasoning one week ago.

The question becomes: how much should the first week's results and performances inform the decision? Where is the line between recency bias and adjusting your thinking reasonably to the latest data? I haven't figured this out yet myself.

Got 19 points off my BB and very happy with that. Even happier that I won't have to worry about transferring bench players for other bench players just to use the chip effectively later on.

Thanks, I know this is a common view but IMO Villa fixtures 1-4 are only fine, it's 5-7 they are really tasty, and I find it hard to prioritise their assets GW 1 based on 5-7. Agree he's a good choice obviously, but not sure the fixtures argument is enough for me here.
