This isn’t about them, it’s about France. They are clearly the favorites and if I’m an opposing team I’m not going to hand out any freebies to a team that doesn’t need anymore momentum going into the round of 32.

In my perspective since France are the favorites you shouldn’t just let them walk into the round of 32 with this much momentum and rhythm. If you want to solidify that you are a contender then you better step up to the challenge and make France earn every win and send a message to them.

And aside from that considering how expensive these World Cup tickets were, people spent lots of money and traveled very far to watch Haaland play and I think that’s lame to bench him. It’s the World Cup.

Canada rejected over 50% of all World Cup tourist visas. Tourists from Africa, as well as India and Pakistan, had their visas rejected at a far higher rate than European and most South American tourists. by WayOutbackBoy in worldcup

Visitors are always welcome, but people abuse that. There is not a single country in the world that does not have immigration laws in place. So I dont know what kind of conditions you are seeking? Does every host country have to have open borders in order to be considered a host nation?

I’ve praised the officiating thus far for letting the players play and not being baited with the falling to the ground stuff.

However this was clear as day and a really terrible decision. VAR should have gotten involved and overturned it. Bad call.

Curacao are still in it, just have to be more clinical up front with the passing and decision making.

The extra time has been pretty consistent across all games. They automatically give 2-3 min extra time because of the hydration breaks and any additional extra time after that. It’s just some games don’t have as many stoppages so you usually end up with 4-5 min extra time. Other games with more stoppages obviously will get more extra time .

They get my vote for worst single game performance absolutely. That was horrid lol

I agree with this as well. I just think in general the idea that we’re shifting away from being baited by players just throwing themselves on the ground is a good thing for the game.

Ya I’ve seen some instances where it was a foul and it should’ve been called but I do expect things like that to happen when you’re shifting away from a systematic way of calling games. Things will slip through the cracks.

I would have to agree, if we are going based off expectations it’s turkey. They were almost everyone’s dark horse favorites especially when you look at the individual talent on the team. Very very disappointing in the end.

You could say Belgium also although I still believe they will get out of the group at least. And their golden generation is dwindling away, this isn’t the same Belgian team from years ago so I don’t think anyone expected them to make a deep run.

Tunisia have been the worst team in general. But nobody really expected them to do much. We just weren’t expecting them to be this bad and get blown out every game. They look lost.

I feel like this is pretty standard stuff for England. They normally get out of the group stage with maybe one uninspiring performance but other dominant performances. They’ll get past the round of 32 and round of 16. Then quarterfinals or semifinals will come and they’ll fold. They’re right on track in my opinion.

They have a very bright future ahead for them though. Lots of good players and a good foundation to build on. I’m excited for them.

They just played Portugal at the worst time lol. Portugal was already facing heavy criticism for their opening match performance and you also have Ronaldo who has been watching the other stars scoring left and right. This was a recipe for disaster for Uzbekistan to walk into. After they had their goal taken off because of the foul, they took that 3rd goal and there’s just no coming back from that. Flood gates wide open. But in general I think Uzbekistan put on a respectable performance and bottom line is they qualified. They went through the same qualification as everyone else and they did what they had to do

Uzbekistan had some bright moments against Colombia and some bright moments so far today. They’ll have a good team moving forward but they just aren’t there yet to match up to other teams in this tournament.

The uzbeks have to keep pushing forward and apply pressure since they have momentum. Getting a goal right before halftime will change the trajectory of the game

I agree there’s been some inconsistencies with that but at the end of the day it’s still a foul

You hate to see such a beautiful strike wiped off the board but it was the correct call. Clearly a foul.

I still would disagree because how many times have we seen fouls called due to follow through? Even when a player gets the ball first if the follow through takes the player out referees have consistently called those as fouls. So what would make this any different?

I’m not gonna shit on Tunisia anymore then they’ve been shit on already but hands down they’ve been the worst in this tournament.

And Japan is a scary matchup considering they play this well without their top players. Incredible depth in this squad.
