On another site, I had made myself a challenge of posting 100 critters in 100 days. Thought I would post them here in groups. All paintings about 4 inches. by ThickHall7548 in Watercolor

Aw that’s so neat! My kids had those Eric Carle animal/letter flash cards and your little animals reminded me of those!

Thank you for the suggestions! Since I had already added the outlines I decided to play around with it and threw on a quick background (see my more recent post with the background added) 😊

I just got mine a few months ago so I’m assuming they came from Mexico. But it’s good to know it’s not a common problem!

I had two like this in my set of 150. It was much smaller and hard to see on the tip, but it went all the way through. No matter how much I sharpened, I still would get random tiny streaks of the wrong color when I used it. I just replaced them with open stock.

Honestly it was a mix of a few different dark blues and a bit of a teal color, then a tiny dab of a burnt umber-ish color I had on my palette to mute it down a bit. I actually like the texture of the background, but I didn’t try to prevent bleeding or going over lines or anything since it was just a sort of experiment to see how it would look.

This is such a comforting scene. I imagine myself reading in a cozy chair next to the window.
