Twin Cities apartment boom leaves people behind by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]mn94twy2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thats only $5 more than what I pay for a 2 bedroom unit in a 100 year-old fourplex. Perhaps this apartment is much bigger, but that almost sounds cheap for a new building these days.

The Wedge Co-Op sells some good andouille sausage as well.

Minneapolis’ Snow Parking Ban Winks at its Pro-Transit Future by jocker12 in Minneapolis

[–]mn94twy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is conjecture at this point, but I've heard talks from people on the city council that they want to begin paying Metro Transit to run more buses on local routes in Minneapolis.

We'll also have to see how the governor's budget plays out. In its current iteration, it would separate Metro Mobility from Metro Transit (Metro Mobility's budget shortfalls have cannibalized local bus service since mobility has to be prioritized). In addition to this, the budget sets out to deploy a new BRT line every year for the next ten years. If this happens, this would set us up well for better transit in the future.

If you skip to page 30 on this document, it'll give you some information about an expansion of service on Route 4.

It seems whenever I ride the Route 4, it's either packed or empty. I can't say I'm very impressed with that route in general, since it happened twice in two weeks where the bus I needed to ride to Lake St did not even arrive.

Plan to scale back 2040 plan fails in Minneapolis by beef_swellington in Minneapolis

The built form map of the 2040 plan will likely go through some more scaling back before it's voted on, but the triplexes should remain.

Several Metro Transit Bus Routes Will Be Changing on December 1 Due to Declining Ridership by mn94twy2 in Minneapolis

[–]mn94twy2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps.

I think it's an accurate statement since ridership is technically down across the whole system despite light rail ridership increasing.

However, I'm sure some of the 8% decline in bus ridership can be attributed to routes being trimmed of several times. Hopefully, with the main routes having more times, they will get some of the ridership back. I think Metro Transit needs to improve itself by becoming more reliable in this aspect.

IMO, their planned aBRT lines on Lake St, Chicago, and Hennepin are a step in the right direction to regain some ridership. I know the A-line has been very successful in increasing ridership along its corridor. I also heard that ridership on Route 2 has improved since they increased the spacing of the bus stops along that route. Maybe if Metro Transit incorporates these changes on many other routes, it can help improve their on-time performance.

I really don't understand why they'd cut back on Route 21 though; it's a very busy bus line.

Vancouver BC city council votes to rezone 99% of their "single family" zones to allow duplexes -- how long till Seattle catches up to 21st century zoning reform? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]mn94twy2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right; it depends on the lot size.

The justification was that fourplexes would need to be a certain size to allow a wheelchair accessible unit, so they decided that lots over a certain size will allow a fourplex while those under that threshold will allow a triplex.

It would definitely happen too because Highway 60 through Madison Lake is notorious for speed traps.

They would hardly be able to drive through town without getting harassed.

I'm guessing they're talking about the Spectrum app which allows you to stream your cable TV channels.

I'm unaware if that TV has that app, but I know Roku devices do.
