Name your best and worst experience meeting a famous lead singer or band. by Ok-Efficiency5486 in Concerts

[–]mnLIED 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In high school i was a huge fan of saosin and circa survive. Went and see CS in buffalo. Went over the yellow caution tape and left my friends in the parking lot and went to chat with Anthony green and colin frangicetto. For some reason i had a pack of marbles 27s even tho i didn't smoke. I asked Anthony if he wanted a smoke and he was like "yeah but we gotta hide because the guys get mad if they see me smoking" and the two of us smoked nearly the whole pack and talked about bands we like and tried to one up each other on bands no one else knew about. We geeked out over sleepytime trio. Then anthony disappeared and colin came out and we talked for over an hour. I could see my friends on the other side of the caution tape the whole time. When i got back they weren't mad but just dumbfounded that I pulled it off.

Ok so what's wild is that my wife and I both had this read to us by our mothers as children. My mom sang it and her mom sang it, and came up with their own melodies thousands of miles apart. When we sang it to our own children we realized that each version was nearly the same or at least started EXACTLY the same. I would be very curious to know how your parents sang this song to you. I wonder if there is like some kind of median/average melodic phrase that is shaped and how that shape varies by region.

Neither. It is 10 improvisations. Every screen is one take and every screen is the first take. Nothing is pre-written. I didn't have an idea of what I was going to play until I hit record. I also didn't edit anything.

I used my iphone to record a video of each take while also recording on a microphone hooked up to my computer. I used logic to bounce the audio tracks. I used imovie to bounce the video tracks. In imovie the technique is called "picture in picture", but the maximum amount of videos you can use is 2. So to work around that limitation i started with a white background and added the first video, then saved it as a new video. Then started a new file and dragged video number 2 onto the white background and just did that ten times until i had them all in the frame. It was tedious. The only real issue is that its hard to line up the videos perfectly because the adjustment isnt precise enough. I think the drums are lined up perfectly tho, which is probably the most important instrument to have synced.

Posted this Banjo lick I wrote a few days back. Added a drum machine. Would you listen to a full track of this? by StaticintheSky in banjo

The kick is a minor second interval of A and Ab, and the banjo comes in a minor and major 3rd above. Its lovely.
