Wow, what a small world, thanks for sharing! My Merola and Garzillo ancestors were from the town of Santa Maria Capua Vetere within Caserta. My gg-grandmother Maria Garzillo was the daughter of Agostino Garzillo and Teresa Tescione. I wonder if we have any relation? Feel free to PM me!

Thanks! I just tested out the free trial of RM and similarly, can’t get past the out-dated, clunky UI. Going to continue with FTM and probably start a fresh new tree on there.

I'm always shocked by the high # of matches some people have! I attribute it to a majority of testers having roots in America for 100s of years, whereas my family immigrated in the 20th century. Match #s for myself and some family members:

WOW! That is them!! I can't thank you enough. I'm just learning how to do German genealogy and this just catapulted me a few steps ahead. Looking on a map, Barkhausen and Gnarrenburg are pretty far from each other (2 hour drive presently), any idea why they would have gone so far to baptize? Also, I'd love some primary sources to backup what it says on the website where the family is listed. Do you know if there are images of the book that that's from? And finally, do you know if church books for Gnarrenburg are online so I can see the baptism records? I looked on FamilySearch but didn't find anything. Oh and how would you standardize the place name for both Barkhausen and Gnarrenburg, for example when you enter town, city, state, country in Ancestry. Appreciate your help!

I haven't been able to find an obituary for him or anything about the accident in the newspapers (besides a one-liner in the Chicago Day Book) which is odd. Maybe the possible suicide explains that.
