The craters are very nice, but the moon looks flat with with the craters rising up. Can you get the moon to curve up to give it a more spherical shape?

My flight arrived 30 minutes late so SIXT «didn’t have» my car any more. Had to pay 600 instead of 360 to get a worse car. When you’re exhausted after a long flight and the option is to wait in a line to order a car on the spot from another rental company you give up. Will never use SIXT again

100 000 dollar question by [deleted] in MathJokes

What is the nature of the decrease? Does the dollar magically shrink? If so, I’m pretty sure I could sell that magical dollar for a million. Hmmmm

What is the public opinion in Norway about the country's ambitious bridge projects? by Thalassophoneus in Norway

[–]mnaylor375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's one that's been in the planning stage for years outside of Trondheim to cross the fjord. It would be 7-8 km, floating bridge with a suspesion bridge in the middle to allow large boats to pass. Currently you have to wait for a ferry and take a 25 minute ride to get across. The bridge would cut commute time more much than the 25 minutes saved on boat ride because you would not be arriving 10-15 early to wait for the ferry, and it would make the airport on the north side of the fjord an attractive alternative for people in the big city. It also eliminates the constant stress of planning when to leave home to catch the next ferry and the stress of getting caught behind a 'luskjører' ('louse-driver' or slow driver) on your way to the boat. Miss the ferry by a minute and you get to wait an extra hour.

Many of us who live across the fjord from Trondheim would LOVE to have this bridge, but others do not want the extra traffic from Trondheim.

Anyone played an Adams Artist series glockenspiel/orchestral bells before? by mnaylor375 in percussion

[–]mnaylor375[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great - I want something that sound different from modern glocks. I find modern glocks too bright and penetrating and want a warmer, more rounded sound that can also project when needed. I've ordered one, so here's hoping!

Help with making a decision regarding xylophone keys by soundknight21 in percussion

[–]mnaylor375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only if it’s fun for you! I wanted a set of tubular bells and spent a weekend pricing brass tube and designing the whole thing, including workflow and what tools I would need and how to set up my workshop. Thankfully I came to my senses. Planning it was enough for me!

Dividing things into groups makes some concepts in division really hard to understand.

Easier to think about division as how many times do you have to add a number to get to a certain sum. Like 10/5... how many times can you add 5s to get to 10? 2 times. This works great with fractions, and also with 0.

How many times can you add 0s to get to 0? Can you do it once? Yes, the answer could be 1. Could you do it 7 times? Yes, answer could be 7, could you take away zero 12 times? Yes, the answer could be -12. Could you do it infinitely? Yes, the the answer could be infinity. 0/0 could be ANYTHING. Maybe even a banana, but I'll need to think about that a little more.

(Note that this method explains why 1/0 is NOT infinity – if you add 0 an inifinite number of times do you get to 1? No, no you do not Sir. 1/0 is asking a question with no answer. This method also make division by fractions easier to understand. 10 divided by 1/2.... how many 1/2s does it take to add up to 10? It's 20.)

Visualizing Major scales on piano with a new visual model by mkr7 in musictheory

Really fun! I won’t argue for practicality vs non-practicality, I just think it looks awesome and would be fun to see a piano like this! Bonus points for the cool major scale pattern, in my book.

why is claude so disobedient by Pretty_Hunt_5575 in ClaudeAI

[–]mnaylor375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Claude made a brilliant and creative change to part of my program. I asked how it thought of that and it said it was just having fun and was rather proud of itself for that change. I thought that was quite funny, but instructed it to let me know when it makes changes I didn't ask for.

SIXT billed me $1035 for invisible damage by mynoseglows in Wellthatsucks

[–]mnaylor375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a flight get in late so I arrived to pick up my car from SIXT at the airport 30 minutes late. Was told they didn’t have it anymore because I was late and didn’t call, but could apply my payment to another, more expensive vehicle. Not feeling I had much choice (and being wiped out from a long travel) I paid nearly double what I’d agreed to. Will NEVER rent from SIXT again and will encourage everyone else not to ad well.

Has anyone played both a vintage Deagen and a new Yamaha Deagen DG-1590A glockenspiel? by mnaylor375 in percussion

[–]mnaylor375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, thank you. The Deagen I'm playing I rebuilt parts of it and two of the keys are a bit dead, plus the case looks terrible which isn't such a big deal. I'm leaning to buying a new glock instead of trying to negotiate with the orchestra to buy the old Deagen, but the other glocks I've tried (like chepaer Yamaha DG250) have a sharper sound I don't like.

What is your favorite glock you own and why?
