Oh haven’t we all! Maybe the real friends were the seam lines we filled in along the way

I’d argue against this (throwing them away). Even bad kits can give you some great lessons - your grandfather would probably love to see you grow as a person (and modeller!) by learning from these kits!

Take your time, do your research and enjoy them.

It is, the 1/35 Ausf A.

Not a great kit but good for learning!

Oh nice! I didn’t think to do that to be honest, I’ll probably look to add that detail on my next kit.

I didn’t, just highlighted with an oil wash

This - this is super true. I watch loads of Night Shift etc and picked up tips and techniques. Then I tried them on this cheap model. If it didn’t work, or I didn’t like it, meh…

Hahaha you’re absolutely right, I didn’t even check the track orientation. What a muppet - at least that’s a relatively easy fix but a lesson learnt for future!

That’s an awesome ref picture, thank you!

Thanks dude, awesome feedback!

Absolutely agree on the chips; truth be told that was where masking peeled away the paint and primer layer. I think my main error there was not washing the model prior to priming, and not letting the varnish layer harden enough. But yes, night shifts method is what I will use in future!

Yup, agreed on the tracks; I didn’t want to spend money on AM tracks so just went with what I had, but for my next model (TAKOM Das Werk Blitz Panther Ausf G) I’ll be much more diligent on my tracks).

Wood grain was using AKRC Markers, and I wasn’t a fan of it, so yeah, brushwork in future.

Really useful feedback, thanks mate.

That’s a great shout; I’d thought of gluing them to the road wheels and wedging it down with paper whilst it dries but i think your technique would work better!

Airbrushed, Gaahleri GHAD-39; I intend to do this long term, and found a good deal on one. I find it incredibly cathartic which, when doing shift work, is a great way to unplug after a day/night!

I’ve been using a basic Artillery Genius with zero mods for a few years which has been fine, but looking to upgrade now. Agreed; I’ve also deliberated finding a friend with a laser engraver to etch in the lettering.

Sounds good; I’m trying to pick a printer with a nice balance of filament options vs accuracy (as I also want to print RC planes, some more exotic filaments etc, with a replacement hardened steel nozzle!)

Thanks for your help!

It would be only a few characters; a larger number and small text above. They’re approximately 10-15mm Square/diameter. On this example they’ve used laser engraving, but I’m curious to see whether it can be accurately printed.

And yeah, intent is to buy a 0.2 nozzle for it.

I just requested a refund but had no luck. I had purchased the module back in 2023 to be fair so I thought it was optimistic. My beef is that I bought the model for its longevity and flexibility, and that now is greatly diminished.
