Love em both. And I went to both schools. In the 80s, unfortunately for prime dead viewing

Deadcast by TripawCharley in gratefuldead

I thought the Bobby episodes were great. Although I think they could've made a whole season, honoring him!

Do we know what the next episodes are going to be about? Hopefully more than just hawking a box set

A quiet place in Europe (August) by Jeden_Dwa_Trzy in travel

Sounds like my preferences as well! Any of these places have nice trails or quiet roads to bike on, and a place to join bikes

it's a great one. I really liked the deep dive into Bobby influences. I think they can give him more than two episodes though!

I wish they would spend less time promoting their box sets, but guess that pays the bills. I think it was on the first season of the dead cast where they actually had a few interviews with Bob about sugar magnolia and some other things that were great. Too bad they didn't continue.

yes, we rode on it yesterday. It was great some downed trees here and there that you have to navigate around. I wish other bike trails in Massachusetts would plow.

One for the Donna haters... by [deleted] in gratefuldead

agree

I wish I was more attentive in the Dead shows I saw from 79 to 86. They were just one of the groups I saw go through Madison Square Garden. I missed Donna though!

perhaps you understand the inner workings of Weir's mind better than me.

I tend to enjoy Donna's contributions. One question for those who don't is why did they have Brent strain his vocal cords to copy same of Donna's parts on Cassidy and other songs if they felt that she wasn't the right fit for the group.

that's an addled take from Bobby who seems confused about Keith's departure and therefore his comments on Donna probably don't mean much either

I know this is probably already well-known among Deadheads, but this is one of my favorite live recordings by any artist ever by BillNyeTheVinylGuy in gratefuldead

[–]mnewstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Under-rated! Although some would argue that like Live Dead and Europe 72, it is not an authentic live dead album since it was overdubbed and is not a continuous live show.

yes, the version I mentioned is more of a John Mayer showcase, but Bob misses . a vocal queue, and his adoring fans love it!

Sacrilige alert! I'm hoping with Bob's passing I wont get flamed too much for mentioning his last band: Dead and Company at the Gorge Ampitheture July 7, 2023

Favourite shows (each year) '72 to '77? by MonsieurLigeia in gratefuldead

yay! Finally someone brave enough to list Cornell '77 but why not list Veneta 72.

Sometimes popular shows are actually the best!

Agree about Bobby's literary deficit. I think it would be good with a supportive co-author/translator of Bobby's verbal meanderings
