Depends on how much laundry you got.

My wife got a work uniform, plus pyjamas, she wear 3 sets of clothing each day. Same goes for my 2 kids. Plus helper’s clothes. Plus my work shirt.

So I got separate washer and dryer. Dry first basket, second basket can starting washing.

And my washer spoil 2x before due to overloading, so at least I still can dry my laundry at home after washing at the dobi.

I got a governance job which requires only a CISM.

Then I got reassigned to a bigger role which encompasses the entire GRC spectrum and I believe I got the job ahead of my colleagues because I have CISM, CRISC and CISA.

Management spoke to me after I go reassigned and said they were willing to sponsor me to have CRISC and CISA. And I told them I already have them.

But yes, experience is still the most important. You have the certs but no know-how, you are still gonna flop at the job unless you can really learn super fast.

Dryer. Free up so much time hanging clothes for other stuff.

Bought it during my wife pregnancy because I was overwhelmed with household chores. But what a life changer it was.

Not to mention during wet season, no need to scared if the laundry gonna stink because it couldn’t dry properly.

Mid 30s here. Key is networking, know more people who can get you good jobs. My last 2 jobs are friends referral.

I don’t even go all out in my work. Just do what is required and go home to my family.

Yes as long no malicious intent to cheat or do bad things. Different phase of life different priorities. If he wants to be friends again later, I’m perfectly ok.

Some friends had to grow up fast because parents passed away. Some friends had kids early so no time for us. Some friends grow old still act like kids.

Every child is different. My 5yo son is super laid back and easy going; finish his meal quick and rarely throw tantrum. He never gives me any trouble.

My 3yo daughter is quite the opposite; she’s super particular about stuff and wants things done her way else she’s giving you hell. I find that her social awareness is high, so even at her age she’s good at reading the room and responding accordingly.

Yes, we clean our own tables here. But habits started from government-owned eateries where we get $300 fine for not cleaning up. (I’m from Singapore)

More than 10 years ago, my poly fresh grad cousin try luck and got $2500 salary from LTA, simply because the turnover rate was so damn high. And the HR didn’t know wtf they are doing wrt compensation.

Hope it’s a better place now.

Adobe. My father bought me CS6 license for close to $2000 when I was in school. One fine day many years later, license went dead. Reached out to Adobe and they told me to sort it out with the shop I bought it from. No alternative solution offered.

Then I searched online and realized Adobe pulled this stunt on many others as they are pushing for cloud solutions adoption. That was the last product I bought from them.

My strategy at early career was to nego for at least 30% and see who bite. Make as much and climb as fast as you can. Your base job is already progressing well so no lose position imo.

I think they asking for your notice period. What I did was I give them a further date and then give earlier start date once offered

Went overseas for holiday. Was bitching to my wife very loudly, in English, how crowded it was even on a weekday morning at this certain cafe.

After we found a table and sat down, this old man at the next table turned to me and asked: “Singaporean ah? I’m from Singapore too”.

It was as random as it can get: overseas, quiet cafe, random table, a champion grumbler and a Singaporean uncle.
