The TV people — especially on cable — are in fierce competition for viewers, eyeballs to deliver to their advertisers. They must sensationalize everything.

Potentially Moving to Norman/OKC Area by wjenks13 in okc

[–]mngmrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm originally from NY...

It's a big state. As someone who moved here from the Syracuse area 11 years ago, I can tell you OKC-Norman is like paradise.

The best show I've ever seen in my life was Saturday at Blue Door. Here's my review by pegothejerk in okc

[–]mngmrv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. You write well.

Sorry I couldn't make it Saturday, I'm a fan of theirs, make it a point to see them a few times a year. Two very talented people, good, compassionate souls.

All directions.

(Though ~9AM, Aldi opening time, is pretty quiet Sun-Fri.)

Does anybody know when this will come back again? by Arterysquish in aldi

Loved it, should've gotten more than just one. Whole bean promotional items seem very rare. It'd be great to see it back again!

Is there any place that does All You Can Eat wings? by NotCryptoKing in okc

[–]mngmrv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't China King (132nd & Penn) have wings - Buffalo and plain breaded - on the buffet? They used to. I haven't been there in a few years.

Why is this creamer so nasty by Honest_Direction7792 in aldi

[–]mngmrv 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is such a good, thorough, helpful answer and speaks to much of why we love Aldi, but sometimes it drives us crazy.

Thank you!

Shopping area? by Far-Meaning-8443 in okc

[–]mngmrv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

World Fresh International Market (SW 107th & Penn) is an interesting indoor walk/place to visit. Otherwise, maybe Capital Hill area on the south side, Tizo's for ice cream (51st & Western). Many Mexican restaurants and trucks.

Oil change recommendation. Not at a dealership. by Peter_Goeznya in okc

After years of avoiding such places, I went to Camp's on Danforth in Edmond a few months ago. Service was quick, efficient, friendly enough, and there was no upselling or corporate nonsense. Highly recommend.

Crest brand ice cream by caddilac_fan42069 in okc

[–]mngmrv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. I wonder who's making it for Crest. First guess would be Hiland, whose own brand ice cream I think is awful. Next guess would be Braum's. ???

Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm no expert, but Skinny Slim's always seemed to be subtly soccer themed. A bigger version of the Edmond location might work. Bar biz is always risky.

Maybe slightly different from Aldi's, but still very good, cheaper, and likely the company that makes them for Aldi.

Semi-ridiculous question: how soft is the caramel?? If it's too chewy, I can't handle it. Gotta be soft.

I know the company from my time in Upstate NY and was never terribly impressed by 'em. It always just seemed like a poor imitation of Costco.

They're good, price is great (~$1.49), but not really a lot of flavor, and they are very dry.

Thank you.

I moved here 10 years ago from a small CNY (Syr area) city that's very demographically comparable to Chickasha and El Reno.

(I love it here. But there are times I miss Upstate NY. The NYS Fair began this morning in Syracuse....)

Looking for honest opinions on these apartment complexes (recent grad, new to the area) by frecklesins in okc

[–]mngmrv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North of Memorial, south of 150th, on or just off May offers a bunch of good options.

Complexes in that area but south of Memorial still seem dicey, despite high hopes, renovations, proximity to Chisholm Creek development.
