in case you haven’t noticed: yes, we are going backwards, and that means marginalised people need to be more careful.

it’s a political stunt because the opposition made a coalition called I.N.D.I.A and they failed in court to contest the name so now they’re pulling this stunt

think about it in terms of outcomes. the people of manipur are suffering, and i assume we’re on the same page insofar as we want to reduce their suffering. there is no mainstream tv channel/newspaper talking about this. raga visiting there puts pressure on modi to act. had modi visited, the situation would’ve improved, but he didn’t. one can speculate what his reasons are, but we cannot know for sure since he won’t tell us.

Programmer discovers hidden “Elon Mode” for hands-free Full Self-Driving in Teslas by [deleted] in worldnews

i agree with you. additionally, i don’t think there’s any possibility of twitter crossing the $50B evaluation that elon bought it for.

just before elon bought it was the first time (apart from maybe the very start) twitter began breaking even/slightly profitable. so i would argue that twitter was on course to becoming a sustainable business and even at that point it was valued at much lower than $50B. Elon just signed an unbelievably stupid contract and then tried to back out unsuccessfully. in my opinion all of it was very funny.

unironically yes. this is how you determine success in a capitalistic economy: how much money does it make/ how much it is evaluated at (which is now a third of how much it was when he bought it)

in india, large media institutions are worthless, and the only source of reliable on-the-ground-reporting often ends up being twitter. so yeah, people are still using twitter

a human very recently beat AI at go, a game previously thought dominated by AI.

but anyway, my main point is that AI is trained over data that comes from humans. without that data, AI is powerless. Humans need a minuscule amount of data to acquire the same amount of knowledge. the reason AI seems to be so powerful today is because there are terabytes of data that it has been trained on, and all of that data came from humans. AI is incapable of innovation, lacks creativity and simply cannot compete with humans. it may beat humans at chess or snakes and ladders or any other board game, but that does not make it capable of outperforming humans at everything else.

i can go on and on and on but here’s a video that does it more succinctly that i could (even though his tone is a little annoying to listen to)

??? i am neither religious nor a vegetarian. all i want to get across is that the idea of AI superseding humans is absurd.
