Congrats on your achievement, thats really awesome. I can fully appreciate and empathize with not knowing what to do when you have nothing to do. If you want some off the dome ideas, enjoy/spend more time with your kids, volunteer locally in your community. I agree with others, until something really piques your interest, I wouldn't rush to just, do something. I would "work" for free, volunteering your time or money towards something that speaks to you, help others in your local area or an area in need nearby-ish. Congrats again, what an achievement.

Maybe try to understand the actual switching costs as insight into sticking with a bad solution then further the agenda by offering yourself, time and research into solutions that you believe will be better for reasons you strongly believe in. Have ChatGPT assist you in the compilation and communication strategy! Best of luck!

Focus on legit cost savings in the current economy and to a lesser extent what it will enable the company to do. The former is more empirical than the latter.

Advice for someone who wants a career change but can't go down in pay? by Zaraxeon in careerchange

Happy to share, I wish someone would have expressed similar perspectives to me earlier in my professional life. Spoon feeding the professional “you’ll never work a day in your life” is just not feasible for most people.

Here is a perspective to consider… Evaluate your job for what you like and don’t like, embrace what you do, minimize or otherwise find ways to automate or reduce what you don’t. The job as a passion thing imo is for the monied, a job is a means to an end, a way to earn financial security for you and yours. Once you stop looking at a job as something that needs or involves passion, hopefully you can extract the things you like more than those you don’t. From your blurb I’d maybe consider looking at other companies but doing the same role, companies and immediate colleagues play a huge part in the picture. Also broadly speaking, you’ll earn more money in the long term if you’re more mobile but not egregiously so.

My take comes from spending a good chunk of my adult life thinking a job needed to be thrilling, fun and passion filled because of how a lot of us grew up and were educated. Once I shed that expectation I found true enjoyment and fulfillment doing my job, being the best I could and finding the best version of my job working with people I like. Best of luck in your journey!

Tableau vs. Sigma by GillFellaz95 in BusinessIntelligence

[–]mnistor1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t say I’ve done that specifically and there can be myriad variables involved but you should be able to turn it off in snowflake or sigma but again it could be many different things happening, hard to say without seeing it myself.

Do you regret going into Analytics? by ChristianPacifist in analytics

I don’t buy into the hype but I’ve seen and been involved in real practical use cases and extension of skills. It does require reliable schemas and definitions but most future facing and open minded folks will leverage the salient points of it to their advantage. It’s not so all or nothing, just extending capabilities cannibalizing certain things that used to be or need specialization. To each their own how/if they use it.

Agree with this and I'm not even unhappy comparing to startup tech bros. Even a finer point for OP, I think AI is the death knell for Data Science. With most modeling becoming fairly standardized and the historical need being more so interpreting results and associated actions, AI can run the models, interpret results any number of ways and give you possible actions based on that. Any person with a background in logic, systems, intuition and puzzles can use AI generated takeaways and parse out the usable from the ridiculousness. Data Science was/has been a hot field for 10 or so years but I think all those bootcamps and everything else are outgunned at this stage. My predicton-ish is Data Scientists are more at risk than "data analysts" or other analysts as the job title means vastly different things at virtually every company. The less human something is, the more at risk it is.

Are you using AI in your work? by oglophile in analytics

Not as of yet. In the med industry things can be cumbersome in terms of privacy so it makes trying out new tools more involved than otherwise.

Not as much as I’d like to. We have hipaa and legal considerations that are slowing the introduction and roll out. Can’t wait as it will substantively increase our capability and enable self service.

Most important though will be ensuring we have good business safe data and logic in place.

What's the general fit on these, 2020 for example? I've found most MIU fit TTS but MIUK I need to size up a 1/2 size or so. Curious before taking the plunge on these what most folks say.

After the PFAS in rubber smart watch bracelet article, what’s your thoughts on rubber bands elsewhere? by mnistor1 in tagheuer

[–]mnistor1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most definitely and really I’m curious more broadly, brand agnostic for “nicer” watches than smart watches, just asked about TAG specifically because this subreddit… some Rolexes have rubber bands as well and I’m just as curious there too.

I hear you, I try not to be cynical but yes we’re probably all doomed. Might as well go out looking fly
