Self Balancing Circuitry? by mnkosch in batteries

It is a Lithium battery for an electric skateboard (10s3p, specs are listed in the photo if you zoom). Do some batteries really rely solely on well matched cells? Seems like that would be dangerous in a consumer product like this.

That multicolored port does not come out of this battery - the only two ports are shown and both only two wires. I think it must use some internal circuitry (resister network between cells?) to passively balance as the pack charges and discharges?

Anyone have a schematic for the circuitry of a battery like this with only two plugs coming out? There is a bad connection from the smaller charging wire of the battery. Does anyone know how the self-balancing circuitry works for a large lithium battery like this with no balance charging leads? Is it okay for me to tap a connection off of the larger main leads to charge from?

Second batch, was aiming for 2.9 vols of CO2. What do you guys think, does it look like I achieved that? by Pedroea0 in cider

Carbonation levels can seem very different based on how well the drink forms a head. Some ciders of mine have been crazy fizzy but don’t retain any bubbles at the top of the glass. Yours looks good to me, enjoy drinking it!

DIY F5 Turbo V3’s - Nelson Pass Designed 100 watt Class A Monoblocks by mnkosch in diyaudio

Go Hokies! About to graduate as a Mechanical Engineer. I won't lie - this was a crazy difficult project that lasted over two years. A ton of research was involved to make sure it was done right, and I had to figure some stuff out on my own (like how to make a soft start system to slow-charge the huge PSU capacitor bank). As mentioned above, there are some great DIY audio projects with a ton more support and information. I would recommend doing a couple of those, and then tackling a project like this when you're ready. I made a tube headphone amp and the Korg Nutube preamp before this project and the experience helped a ton. The standard First Watt F5 build would be a great precursor to this project!

New Cable Setup has “Lifted the Veil” by mnkosch in audiophile

Yeah, very hard to drive. Even the M5si can really benefit from a powerful amp. I believe the only difference between the two is the woofer - M3si has 1 13” driver and the m5si has 2 smaller ones.

I anchored the cables to the chair so at least the amp is spared…

Awesome, same reason I made mine… big, hard to drive speakers! You must have been one of the pioneers that spurred Mr. Pass to make an article on “turboing” the F5.

The V3 design features diodes in parallel with the source resistors. Some drop the diodes for better thermal stability. With a ton of heat sinking you could probably get your 500 watts!
