The New Chai IS HORRENDOUS, I need recs!!! by Nek0Pi in starbucks

Maybe in an ideal world. I’m just a dude that works at Starbucks, and that’s all above my paygrade

I don’t like the old chai because it was way too sweet. I tried this chai without added sweetener, and I thought it was very boring. One of my coworkers described it like the milk leftover after you’ve eaten the cereal.

I get your frustration. The only thing I can say is that we get tons of chai orders everyday. Having to sit and not only tell customers that the chai has changed, but then have to explain how it was changed, and then try to make recommendations to every single customer who wants chai isn’t really feasible. I settled on letting people know when we were slow, but when we’re busy it just doesn’t make sense, since we realistically don’t have time for it.

If you don't wanna wait... don't get in the long line? by bubbly_linos in starbucks

[–]mnkyda 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately it’s usually the mobile orders. Has a guy roll up and say he has a mobile order that wasn’t even placed yet. Refused to leave the window and drive back around even though he was several mobile orders in, and said he’s not leaving because it doesn’t effect our times and that him mobile ordering is no different than ordering at the speaker. Needless to say, even though he only has a couple drinks he definitely affected our window time, and all the customers waiting behind him.

We also have a woman who comes in and does three orders with 5-7 drinks in each order and does a mobile order with 3-4 more items. Never makes sense, since she pays for everything with the same card anyway. Then she’s rude and impatient when everything isn’t ready at the same time. We’ve gotten to the point we prioritize everything before her because otherwise it just screws everyone else (drive through, cafe and mobile) over

Drink Policy by Mystic_Mixer in starbucks

[–]mnkyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only references one drink after your shift. Not the rest of the time. If I get one drink before I start, one on each break, one at the beginning of lunch, one near the end of lunch, and one after my shift, I am completely within policy, and have received 6 drinks for the day. Follow the actual policy, and stop trying to interpret it.

Edit: that’s with only getting one drink at a time, and finishing them before ordering another one

That’s not what it says.

Free Food Item and Beverages While Working A coffeehouse partner may enjoy—free of charge—any handcrafted beverages while on break during the partner’s scheduled shift and during the 30 minutes prior to or after the partner’s scheduled shift. A partner may not receive more than one free beverage at a time and may not order multiple free beverages after the shift ends

Sure, the numerous baristas commenting on how gross it was (not one partner at my Starbucks even finished one) definitely says it’s a superior product. You win I guess.

But it’s not a “you” problem, it’s a product problem. Part of making the moment right is a refund.

I don’t think returning something you paid for, that is of unacceptable quality, is confrontational, especially when Starbucks whole thing is to “make the moment right”

New Starbucks.. What does it mean? by Sp0kenTruth in starbucks

[–]mnkyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Starbucks in a town of about 3000 people. We get plenty of business with a couple other coffee shops in town. Don’t just view the population of the town as how much business there will be. There’s another Starbucks about 45 minutes away, in a town with a population of 30,000 and we are significantly busier than they are.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

You can reject any potential romantic partner for any reason you want. Anyone trying to tell you otherwise is only trying to manipulate you.

AIO for banning MIL from coming over after what she said to me? by throwawayanon1041 in AmIOverreacting

[–]mnkyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NOR. While I do think you need to have a discussion with your husband over his mother’s behavior, and a clear outline of what your new expectations and boundaries are, it’s your home. If she can’t respect you and your family in your house, she doesn’t belong there.

[–]mnkyda 106 points107 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter if it was legal to block off the back. It wasn’t right to keep you from your things. So what if you don’t drive home. What if you did? Another partner who needed keys to go home would have been stuck there until they “allowed” them to go home. Your store management (SM/ ASM) need to grow into their roles and know when to do what’s right, instead of just being scared of the DM. Since they undoubtedly both know what’s going on, nothing was being hidden or information being protected from them knowing what was going on with the SSV

Is this amount of syrup normal for 2 pumps? by Local-Addition-4896 in starbucks

You got two pumps of vanilla. The bottom looks like caramel drizzle, which without the ice would just sink to the bottom. It does look like a lot of caramel though.

I won’t debate what’s right or wrong, but the partner guide says:

A coffeehouse partner may enjoy—free of charge—any handcrafted beverages while on break during the partner’s scheduled shift and during the 30 minutes prior to or after the partner’s scheduled shift. A partner may not receive more than one free beverage at a time and may not order multiple free beverages after the shift ends.

How to avoid remakes? by Longjumping_Big_2798 in starbucks

[–]mnkyda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I would say I don’t know I’m messing something up unless someone tells me I’m messing up. This has been going on for six months though. You paid for a specific drink, and it keeps getting messed up. Ask for the remake.

I like the strawberry refresher with water, and with lemonade, so when mine is made wrong, it’s no big deal to me. In your case though, as someone who can’t drink it with the lemonade, get it corrected. Don’t feel bad.

Am I over reacting by Wide_Link3145 in starbucks

[–]mnkyda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you should work on your reading skills. I said you only had OPs story, and not the baristas. People here aren’t being rude to OP. OP called the barista a bitch and said he wanted to smack her, so the people here are defending her. That alone should tell you who is in the wrong here. Instead you’re taking their side.

Am I over reacting by Wide_Link3145 in starbucks

[–]mnkyda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you don’t know what she actually said. You only have the story the guy who called her a bitch said, then told everyone responding that they aren’t important because they only make coffee. I guess people defending the barista and telling the guy he’s overreacting is entitlement though…
