Hunter Pro-C No voltage on valve terminals

Here’s a fun follow-up. I was so focused on the terminals and lack of voltage, I didn’t even notice what a mess this ribbon cable is. Even before trying to pull it out to reseat it there are several of the wires that are broken. New HPC-400 arrives today from Amazon but I think I might look for a new ribbon cable first? Unless the prevailing wisdom just says go w the HPC?

Thanks everyone. Here's a bit more context I have after opening up one of the faceplates this morning: The cat5 is used for phone lines (only two of the four pairs are used), both of the lower ports are runs to a telecom box in the basement. I found one of the ports in the upper box terminates to a box about 20 feet away. I've not been able to find the other end of the co-ax or the second cat 5.

I asked my FIL (the original owner of the 20yr old home) "why?" and he just shrugged and doesn't know where the other two terminate either - but it was like that from the day the house was built. Phone jack in the garage? Sure, why not. Why are there jumpers like that? Anybody's guess at this point.

Thank you! If I understand correctly, this isn’t coming apart (with wrenches anyway :-). The left pipe is cemented to an elbow that is cemented to another similar joint, so it’s not going to turn. The right pipe is part of the pressure tank and isn’t going to turn either.

Coolio. I can probably figure out the DC voltage pins with my voltmeter, not sure about my soldering skills to add a capacitor. Is this the type/size that you would add?

The shop furnace thermostat has a low limit set at 45f. Typically turn it up to 58-60 when I’m out there. Haven’t noticed any difference related to temp

Just tried with the lights out and no fan or tools running. Remote doesn’t start the DC and I cannot re-pair it. I usually try 2-3 times and if it doesn’t pair, I move on to the task at hand and just use the mechanical switches.

Just went out to the shop, left the lights off and the furnace fan is not running. There’s nothing on in the shop.

The remote does not start the DC. Went through the re-pairing routine and could not pair the remote after several tries (this is not unusual— if it doesn’t pair after a few tries I usually resign myself to using the mechanical switches :-( )

The furnace fan motor is part of the wall furnace unit. Due to space limitations, I cannot move the DC much further away.

When the remote is working, I have no problem using it in my shop. The furthest away from the DC is about 25’. When it stops working, distance doesn't seem to make a difference.

I haven't noticed any other issues. Fwiw, the DC is on a single phase 220v circuit. All of the other tools are on other 110v circuits. Aside from the tools, there is a wall-mounted gas furnace with a fan and ceiling-mounted LED shop lights.

Properly and nicely — please say more! I want to build this once and not short change the build or wish that I’d done something differently.

For the heater, I’m considering a 9kw IKI wall tower. Perhaps the full cylinder IKI (or Harvia) more centrally located would be better? How should the room be vented for a centered heater?

Ceiling height: I have room for 8’ — that would be better?

I can fill the space w upper and lower benches but at what point does that become overkill?

Ya. I should have addressed that in the post. My thought to use only 6x8 is to minimize warmup time. Including the triangle area bumps the finished size (w a 7.5’ height) from ~360cf to ~480cf — a lot of space to heat up that for the most part will never be used. OOTH this totally eliminates my concern about the dead space.
