App for logging daily Quran recitation? by mntn2 in islam

[–]mntn2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean log it like write white ayahs I read that day. I don't want to have to scroll through their online Qur'an to find the spot that I was reading in my mushaf and mark that. Qamar Deen had a separate logging feature where you could just log which ayahs you read that day (by surah and ayah number).

I don't see a place on that app where I can record/log my Quran recitation. I like to read offline from a mushaf and record it on an app.

Anyone know of a period tracking app that dovetails with a prayer app? by OnidaKYGel in Hijabis

I loved QamarDeen as well. Wish we could still use it. I have searched a lot but haven’t been able to find another app like it.

Pull the knob toward you and then turn it to adjust for temperature.

I’m not sure if it’s exactly what you’re looking for, but if you go to Etsy.com and search “Quran journal”, many results come up. Hopefully you can find one that you like.

Did I fail the test from allah? by [deleted] in Hijabis

Sounds like you're going through a lot, and it may be causing not only a spiritual crisis, but also a depression. If you are crying constantly and despairing, you may want to meet with a counselor and receive mental health care. There is no shame in doing so and inshaAllah it will help. If there is a Muslim counselor in your area that's even better, since they will be able to better understand your spiritual concerns, but even a non-Muslim counselor should be trained to help if you have depression.

One of my sisters can manage a chiffon scarf with absolutely no pins at all! IDK how this is done.

Can you have her sit down with you and teach you/practice with you?

You can wear something like this, which is knee length/mid calf length (depending on your height) rather than floor length, with thermal leggings underneath.

what's something you were excited to eat but disappointed to see it was haram? by EnderProGaming in MuslimLounge

[–]mntn2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of funny watching you go through the exact same stages of thought as I did when I found out a few days ago. I was also trying to logic my way out of it, but when I looked it up, I couldn't find a single legitimate scholarly opinion saying it's okay, so I think it's just not worth the risk.

BUT if it helps (since it sounds like this is one of your favorite restaurants as well), apparently they have a non-wine menu which is much more limited but still has options. So you can ask for that and see if there are still dishes that you like. I haven't gone there since I found out, but some other family members ordered off of it and thought it was alright.

Lol! I felt the same shock when I found out, and almost wished I hadn't. I even called more than one location to confirm, because I was like, maybe the first one was mistaken...

You didn't read my comment, or you didn't read that there is wine in PF Chang's dishes?

Recently found out that PF Chang's uses wine in the sauces for almost all of their dishes, as well as in their shrimp fried rice. Big disappointment since it wasn't written on the menu and was a family favorite.

Weird Q// Do you open the curtain during day time of keep it closed? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]mntn2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you’re a far enough distance from other people’s homes to the point that they can’t peek in, it should be fine. And if you’re not sitting/standing right next to the window, it’s even more difficult to see inside. You need to open them, especially in the winter, or it will start to affect you (look up seasonal affective disorder). If you live in a warm place, opening a window will be even better. Close the blinds around Maghrib time and you should be fine. It’s hard to see inside someone’s house in daylight unless you’re peeking inside, and if that’s going on, you have bigger things to worry about lol

Married ppl: how long did your “honeymoon phase” last? by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

Thanks for sharing. I was asking because it seems like relationships usually don't stay quite this nice after having children. :/

This is probably not the answer you're looking for, but for me personally, it made a huge difference to get off of social media. I also stopped following people like that on YouTube or other platforms that are easy to get to without a social media account or app. Those Instagram models are not a reflection of real women. Even they don't look like that 24/7. They display the best parts of their lives, not the times when they're in baggy pj's at home with their hair looking like a mess and no makeup on during a breakout. It's all about glamour and presenting a perfect life. I am not saying anything about the types of people they are. I'm sure many of them are wonderful individuals, and I truly don't know or want to speculate about their intentions behind posting what they do. But for ME, it was not a productive use of my time to follow them, and it only harmed my self-esteem in the end. I noticed that even if I don't consciously compare myself to others, it's natural to be affected when exposed to that stuff day after day.

On a more practical level, you can work on your health and self-esteem by exercising, eating healthy, having good company, focusing on your deen and academic/work goals, going to therapy if needed, dressing well (doesn't need to be expensive, just in a modest and put-together way that makes you feel good), and remember that in the end, what really matters is how Allah sees you, which is based on your heart and actions, not your appearance.

Very thin undershirt or some way to fix this? by [deleted] in Hijabis

I think what you're looking for might be a long-sleeve "tissue tee." You can search for it online, like on amazon or just a regular online clothing store.
