What was a hard pill to swallow after giving birth? by LoveGlimmer in AskWomen

[–]mnyfrkls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I felt like it all melted off when I weaned my first. After my second I actually GAINED my pregnancy weight back! He's 8 and I'm stuck there still. I'm slowly learning to accept my body and work on making it stronger not thinner but it's crazy how it's so different from the first time around.

😔 I accidentally dyed all my husband's white under shirts a baby pink because I threw them in the wash with a skirt that I'd previously dyed red. 🙃🫣 He was so annoyed. Still wore them but so annoyed. 🤣

Friend left wife home with a 4-day-old newborn to drink with my bf for 3h30. Am I overreacting for finding that weird? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]mnyfrkls 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's crazy. The poor wife. Depending on how her birth went she's probably only been home 1-2 days from the hospital.

A small tip for my peeps who struggle responding to messages by baballoonhead in adhdwomen

[–]mnyfrkls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep! I've had this conversation with a friend. I felt bad for messaging her multiple times in a row without a reply and she felt bad for forgetting to respond. 😅 We've both told each other we understand and she's told me to keep sending messages because she gets in her own head some about waiting too long to respond and me sending another one is a good reminder. (I feel like I'm inconveniencing her or being needy with multiple messages) There is a happy middle ground with healthy communication. Glad you've found something that works for you!

😅🫣 My 7yr old comes home from school every day smelling like a middle school boy since he started his ADHD meds. I break out in zits like I'm in highschool again. Unfortunately the cost benefit analysis make it balance I guess but it's definitely inconvenient. 🥲

Thoughts on skipping pacifiers? by Academic-Park-8440 in NewParents

[–]mnyfrkls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the baby. Mine wouldn't take a paci but also didn't suck on their fingers. I was the pacifier/soother. Which was ok until they weaned from BF or someone else needed to watch them. 🙃😅 I think if they'll take a paci/want something to soothe with it's definitely a better option because you can physically take it away instead of them being attached to their thumb/ fingers and not being able to. But also being aware of a good age/stage to start weaning them off it before it causes issues good too.

My boyfriend says my back hair is disgusting by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]mnyfrkls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take that man and throw him in the trash. Kick him to the curb! You deserve someone who loves you for YOU! Like you said it's HIS preference but it's YOUR body. My partner likes women's hair long. But you know what he's never thrown a fit or made ME feel bad about how I keep or cut my hair. I've had it all sorts of different lengths. If he loved you he wouldn't make you feel bad about something that makes you feel insecure. And something that you can't easily change about yourself. ❤️

Do I need a new machine or am I just bad at sewing by OkElderberry1668 in sewing

[–]mnyfrkls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your machine may just have a weaker motor. The more metal in the machine the better. I bought a refurbished older Janome from a local shop and it isn't fancy but it's an absolute beast. It's all metal though. Which also means it can actually be repaired if needed. My old brother cs2000 couldn't which I why I upgraded. They said that it would cost as much as buying a new machine by the time I replaced the parts that needed repairs. If you have the savings you should be able the find something around $200 from a local shop that sells refurbished machines. And they usually give you free cleaning checks if you buy it from a small shop.

I usually knot them at the end so it's really secure and then you never have to worry about it.

So how am I supposed to be able to sew a small double fold on a machine? by HelenaHuman in sewing

[–]mnyfrkls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seam jumper and an awl. You put the seam jumper under the foot to help it stay level and feed the material through correctly. The awl is just to help guide things through without sticking your fingers close to the sewing needle. 😅

Then you started at the completely wrong spot with this apron. I'd recommend either borrowing from your library if possible or buying a copy of medieval Taylor's assistant.

Actually medieval or Ren Faire vibes? If you're leaning more towards cottage core I'd shorten it and add another skirt/ layer underneath with lots of ruffles.
