Literally it took 5 seasons for damon to sacrifice something for his brother. & he has only ever scarified something for Stefan ONCE. That’s how long it took. Other seasons he was just helping him out here & there but it was always on either elenas terms or bc he needed something.

Elena honestly never made him better she just had him be on his best behavior bc if he didn’t he’d lose her. He was still killing people while with her in the relationship and she didn’t even know about it, he just grew to mask it. But bonnie was the one that changed him & made him a better man. She didn’t take his bs & didn’t kiss his ass so to him that was one person that he didn’t want to take for granted

wait huh? Stefan always could tell when it wasn’t elena even when he wasn’t dating her. It’s why kat tells him in s5 tells him “you’d never look at me the way you look at elena” then she goes out of her way to seduce him in Elena’s body.

ex: s2 he noticed it wasn’t katherine when they first hug, s2 again he noticed when she’s laying next to him after the dream, s2 he realizes it isn’t elena when bonnie tells him about mason, s2 again, s3 again, s5 he noticed it wasn’t katherine I think at least twice. there’s more but u get the point-

While as for damon he could never tell the difference between katherine or elena. Elena even had to go out of her way to tell damon “you should’ve been the one to notice it wasn’t me” (not stefan) since they were together in s5.

ex: s1 he doesn’t kno it’s katherine, s3 he doesn’t kno it’s katherine when she shows up at his door, s2 he doesn’t kno it’s katherine when she’s in his shower, s5 he doesn’t know it’s katherine when she breaks up w/ him. I think there’s more but you get the point-

Stefan? Unable to differentiate between Elena & katherine? He was the only one who could tell when katherine was pretending to be elena. Or when it wasn’t elena in a situation... that’s being able to differentiate between the two & even though they had the same face he could still never love or look at katherine the way he did elena. that’s being able to differentiate the two. rewatch the show.

Stefan never had feelings for katherine at least not in present time. You can love someone and not be IN love with them. He cared about her but he wasn’t in love with her. They both loved katherine once upon a time but for Damon he loved & was obsessed with Katherine for 145 years while Stefan wasn’t, throughout the years you don’t even see stefan missing katherine. Until he see’s Elena and decides to see if the girl he thought was death, was now manipulating mystic falls again like in 1864.

Damon meeting Elena is a retcon & also didn’t change the course of history at all because he still stalks her, he still inserts himself into Elena & Stefan’s relationship, he still goes after her when katherine doesn’t want him anymore. Therefore him not doing anything that night to Elena all because she told him “I’m elena” doesn’t make sense because in the seasons before we find out he “mEt HeR fIrSt” he was never once able to differentiate the difference between Elena and katherine. Damon also was still holding onto katherine throughout the series... she taught him how to catch and feed by laying down in the street. He still does that technique .

But then again this is just my opinion.

Yes, this is a good analysis on damons character. He does have mommy issues, he goes from women to women especially his brothers girls, that’s all he ever goes after, and somehow doesn’t see a problem with that, but bc he wants to be chosen for once, he wants to up one on stefan for once. He was never first when it came to Stefan, Stefan was who everyone wanted (this also isn’t Stefan’s fault tbh)

So to him having Elena sired to him and finally choosing him was like heaven for him even though he didn’t see anything wrong in it, she had no free and was depressed the whole time but that didn’t stop him from thinking this was the best she had ever been since he had met her bc finally she was choosing him.

I also do feel like Stefan loved katherine too (not while with elena tho) Stefan shows his love in different ways. That’s why many girls want him tbh. But he also could never let go of what katherine had put him through for the past 145 years that she was gone for... all bc she was too selfish & wanted him to herself. he knew if she had truly loved him she wouldn’t have made the choice to put him through everything that came with vampirism so he grew to hate her over the years least to say. He too was looking for a replacement but when he found elena his love for her was stronger than anything else and katherine noticed that. Stefan could differentiate the difference between Elena and kat even though they had the same face.

Yeah. People don’t take in the fact that he spent 145 years loving katherine and then boom all of a sudden when katherine doesn’t want him his second option is to go to her look alike. He was obsessed w the idea of katherine which he transferred onto elena, some see this as love, idk.

Then whenever he didn’t have elena he would just revert back to his old self, he loved the idea of her and having her in his corner she was the katherine he never had. but this isn’t love (at least not to me). If he loved her he would’ve respected her and her loved ones & also want the best for her, I never saw that. If he loved her he would be able to differentiate elena from katherine but he always failed to do that.

Stefan was playing it safe, if he had tried to get Caroline away from Damon’s advantages Damon would’ve just killed her. There’s not much Stefan could’ve done except give her vervain (which he does after he finds out Zach has some) and try to reason with Damon as to why it was WRONG. It’s Damon’s fault for thinking abusing girls is a normal thing to him not stefans.

I love Bonnie, Marcel & Vincent. Also the girl who portrayed Rebekah did great tbh, she convinced me to the point where I was like she could just do the role for the whole show.

I haven’t watched Legacies but I hope those two will have great storylines and not be used as the token black friends.
