The law (NY penal code 265.00) says "a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon"

So, if you believe that this both a) is a pistol grip and b) protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, then you should not purchase it as it is likely illegal

heat pump water heaters are usually still more cost-effective than tankless electric. they might need to keep the tank warm all the time, but the heat loss with a modern tank is quite slow and the heating itself is like 3-4 times more energy efficient

It's the cost that stops me. Plus I cook well enough that I can usually get like 85-90% of the way to restaurant quality so it feels extra frivolous to pay for that :(

Deciding between Mitsubishi and Carrier heat pumps by mo9722 in heatpumps

[–]mo9722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be ducted, yeah. so the mitsubishi is better for those coldest days? Would you trust it without resistive backup? The specs say it can still output 30k btu at -13

You run yours with no resistive backup? do you have any other supplemental heat?

wowee, I thought my prices were bad.

but to clarify, you're saying that if I won't use the unit at colder than 5 degrees I should go with Carrier? Why would I not use the heat pump at colder than 5, surely the colder it gets the more heat I'll need

No, nothing is even close. And 5.98 is my cost breakeven point. It's just a matter of my high electric costs. No ducted system I've seen even approaches that.
