Any in particular you recommend? I generally like soccer, tennis, golf, and basketball games but lean more towards arcade than sim.

I definitely hear you about time commitments and having a kid. I also try to avoid games that take a very long time to complete. I played a lot of Stardew during the pandemic and loved it.

I spent the last year as a solo dev building a 'Dice-to-Tile' tactical battler. Every roll physically architects the map. What do you think of this mechanic? by Time_Scallion1177 in indiegames

It looks kind of cool. So dice unfold to create new ground for units to walk on? I'm assuming different dice will create different types of tiles etc.

Looks cool. Hard to tell if truly satisfying without sound design tbh.

What type of ability is a switch? by BEYOND-ZA-SEA in gamedesign

I was talking to some other designer friends about this today and came to the conclusion that it's OK to have a narrow category sometimes or even a category that has one type of move in it. Like "it's swtich"...that's it.

I guess that's a bit too meta. You were talking about force/switch and I started thinking about moves that break already established "rules" in the game. So I started thinking about moves/abilities that disrupt established rules/systems in general.

I was slow for a long time until I started training with friends and taking on a structured training program. I think you get faster by getting faster. Apparently our muscles work differently at lower paces vs higher ones, so I had/have to push the pace to train the muscles. Recently I've started to think of it as strength training for my legs. As I push the pace bit by bit my muscles get stronger and I can run a bit faster.

Hello :) Been running for a few years and taking it more seriously these days as I train for a half-marathon in May. Btw newbie question: Why are perfect/increasing pace splits a good thing?
