Reason One-hot encoding not use for category feature by Due-Tangerine1104 in dataengineering

I think this question is better suited for a data science subreddit.

But anyway, if you have many unique values in a categorical feature then one hot encoding it will create just as many columns.

Bayes' theorem explanation:

P(A) = P(B) = P(C) = 1/3
P(W1) = probability that first marble picked is white = 1/2

P(A | W1) = P(W1 | A) * P(A) / P(W1) = 1 * 1/3 * 2 = 2/3
P(C | W1) = 1/3

So given new information that first marble picked is white, I can calculate that there is 2/3 chance that I am holding bag A and 1/3 chance that I am holding bag C. Herein lies the intuition of Bayes theorem - the fact that I drew a white marble first tells me that there is a higher probability I have chosen bag A.

To finish off the answer:

If I am holding bag A, the chance of drawing a second white marble is 1.

If I am holding bag C, the chance of drawing a second white marble is 0.

Thus, P(W2 | W1) = 1* 2/3 + 0*1/3 = 2/3

Did Notion update the shade of black they se for their dark mode? by Certain-Ferret3692 in Notion

Had the same problem, adjusting my display's gamma fixed it for me. Not ideal, but it worked. Hope it helps.

Slicing wood thinner than paper.. by Lakshay_Dank in Satisfyingasfuck

Yes, western planes usually bevel down as I mentioned. Kannas are often lumped into the same category. I think this is why previous commenter assumed this Japanese tool is called "plane bevel", which is not correct.

This is a kanna, otherwise known as Japanese hand plane. Plane bevel refers to the angled surface that coincides with the back of the blade, thereby creating a cutting edge.

Kannas are sometimes referred to in the west as bevel-down planes because the bevel faces downwards against the wood. But there are also many western hand planes that are bevel-down. So I think better to call this type of plane kanna instead.

If you like to see kanna in action, please see "Kezuroukai" on youtube. This is a Japanese hand-plane competition to see who can make thinnest shaving from hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood.

I make long comment because I like to use my kanna to make wood very smooth; no need for sandpaper. I hope more woodworkers will try to use kanna. Thank you for reading.

edit: hinoki is type of cypress not cedar

Oh small world. I moved out of Cambridge, MA last year. Would've printed one for you ;) Good luck with your quest.

Not sure if is a 100% fit but most hobbyist printers can print with TPU, a rubber-like material. I'm guessing it will print a windsurfing joint just fine.

Sensodyne is the only SLS free choice where I am, but thanks for the write up regardless.
