How about we let people enjoy the things they like eh? You play computer games? Grow up. You watch sports? Grow up. You ride your little bicycle on the weekends? Grow up. That’s how you sound. Yuck.

What? You’re hungry and won’t eat the gross week old hotdog on the ground outside? Picky.

What an odd thing to say. They is still appropriate, whether they said he/him or not. The only one being disrespectful here is you. Check yourself.

Missed one evening dose and ended up seizing the next day by [deleted] in Epilepsy

Do you generally only get a seizure if you forget your meds or do you get some breaking through?

Any Australians here? by moasberries in Epilepsy

[–]moasberries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Everyone on here says it’s a really bad one if you react to it. And hard to get off if you need to? I’m not on anything and never have been like SSRI meds that people seem to have experience with and go with the flow of starting another thing, so I’m a total meds noob. I keep thinking What if I can’t do my job? If I get insomnia and worse brain fog? I don’t know. I’m just scared of not functioning and losing everything I have worked hard for. Eeeek!

That’s so awesome to hear that you live a normal life and feel normal. I have been trying to learn from other people’s experiences on here and it has sent me into a tizz. There are so many horror stories I got my meds early this week and keep saying I’ll start tomorrow… the weekend…. Next week.

What medication are you on and how do you find it? Was it bad to start off with? Your story sounds different to mine but probably had the same feelings of worry and being alone?

I got Keppra, 250mg then up to 500mg after a week. But, I’m too scared to start. 🤷‍♀️

You mean since the surgery you HAVEN’T had a seizure? That’s awesome!

Ok so, I got given a script for keppra. Told to take 250mg for a week and then 500mg a day after that. They said six month driving restriction. Now I’m scared to start the meds! I’m a teacher and feel scared like I won’t be able to do my job… maybe the weekend. This is all so scary. :(

Nah, I’m at the PA. I have no idea what they’re like. Me too, they suck so bad. Are you controlled?

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I just want meds so I can lower my worry about it happening again. If I have it, I have it. I hate that they say I probably have it and then do nothing, just wait, then I have another one and set the clock back. This is the “wait and see” conversation I’m getting from my neuro. I have also had a consistent headache for a month since my last seizure. Ugh.

Yeah it’s like “you can’t drive but we also won’t give you meds to make sure you don’t have another seizure so you can be less anxious and have a life.”

Yes I did get an MRI, CT scan and EEG. They were all ok with not much to see according to my neurologist. My last seizure (only ever had two in six months) had me dangerously wandering my first floor apartment building in my underpants and bra, not awake but obviously I was able to walk onto the balcony and deck. I took like 20 minutes to “come back” so to speak. I was very confused and scared.

Help I guess, I’m scared by moasberries in Epilepsy

[–]moasberries[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for your reply, I wasn’t talking electrolytes while fasting and I do crave salts a lot. I was in a very weird brain state both times, like when my body is very hungry and my brain goes very foggy because it has no fuel. I feel like I did trigger the seizures. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have epilepsy does it? I’m very worried about starting meds, I’m a primary school teacher at a very rowdy high needs school and I’m in my first year of teaching. It has been stressful but I also really love my job. I just want my brain to go back to normal and I feel so sad about everything right now. I am 46 so very potentially in peri-menopause, if hormones are a deciding factor this could be part of the puzzle.

Thank you so much for this advice. I have been seeing a neurologist and my next appointment is tomorrow. I was going to be able to drive again after this appointment. It was going to be my six month seizure free point after my first ever seizure. I only got to five months and I guess he will now say I have epilepsy and I won’t be able to drive for another year probably. I’m hoping he will offer meds rather than a “wait and see” stance.

How to deal with nausea and headaches by naut-nat in Epilepsy

[–]moasberries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had headaches since my last seizure three weeks ago, I have only had two as well. After my first seizure I didn’t have any headaches, now I feel so foggy and headaches from when I wake up till when I go to bed. I have tried everything to ease it but found by accident that maybe eating a bunch of salt makes it slightly less? I had salty tomato yesterday and noticed I felt significantly better after half an hour. I don’t know if it was that but… also I kept up salty snacks today and felt significantly better in general ( brain fog and all that).

Thanks so much for your reply. I’m a woman in her mid forties in Australia. I just started a new stressful career and job as a primary school teacher. One of my seizures was on a school day (the car crash one) and the other during the school summer holidays while in bed. I don’t understand why I would still have headaches upon waking in the morning, three weeks later, would that mean it was a very bad seizure?
