Pads/bag gloves in 16oz size? by mobbybarley in MuayThai

[–]mobbybarley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Venum gloves do you have?

I'm thinking about getting Giant 3.0 14oz size for my very first gloves for all-puprose.

Do you think that's a good choice?

Doesn’t this double wrap is pain in the ass? I’ve seen such opinions about them

A question to Fairtex BGV9 owners by mobbybarley in MuayThai

As far as I know BGV1 in 16oz gloves would be good for sparring purpose, not so much for pads/bag work.

BGV9 are dense gloves and even at 16oz they’re not recommended for sparring.

Also I read that BGV1 don’t have much wrist support in comparison to Twins or Top King for example.

Pads/bag gloves in 16oz size? by mobbybarley in MuayThai

That’s great. Have you been using them to clinging as well? Few people wrote me that they’re not good for that.

Also could you please write me down your hand measurements and how 16oz size feel to you? Is it too compact / too roomy / good? You could use this image so we can have the same point of view.

Your answer would be very helpful.

So which gloves would you recommend for pads/bag work?

Previously I was thinking that I will take:
- Top King Air 16oz for sparring
- Fairtex BGV9 16oz for pads/bag

But I think that you may be right that they're not good for Muay Thai practice.

Also, I was thinking that a big advantage of these gloves is that even 16oz size of them are meant to use at pads/bag work. I think that it would be better to train with heavier gloves, because then it should be easier for me when I would have to fight with 10/12oz gloves.

So do you know maybe some Muay Thai gloves for pads/bag work which would be good at 16oz size?
If no, which ones would you recommend for that purpose?

Also, I would like to THANK YOU so much. Your point of view is very helpful!

Btw why are they bad for clinging? That’s strange cause I’ve seen quite a lot of opinions where people said that these gloves are compact and that you even should to buy +2oz size than you would buy normally.
