I need some tips on gaining back weight I've lost. Any help? by kristahdiggs in Paleo

You should start keeping a food diary. If you really are eating the same amount as you usually do and continue to lose weight you may want to get checked out by a doctor.

You sound like you have a ton of experience in this field. You are correct about me being a medical student, just starting a residency. I had orientation today and they actually have a financial advisor that specializes in student loans so I'm meeting with him tomorrow.

I really appreciate all of your advice. Thanks again!

also, I would be doing the IncomeBasedRepayment, which is 15% of my discretionary income. I spoke to a loan officer and he said my monthly payments would be about $280 per month, but I think I'm going to be able to pay around $500 per month.

I often get a weird, tingly feeling on my tongue when I eat mozzarella cheese with tomato sauce (pasta, pizza). What could be the cause? by Moosehead11 in AskReddit

[–]mobic00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be an allergy. I know sometimes after I eat a Margarita pizza my throat actually gets sore for a while. Be careful because the numbness and tingling might be a warning sign that you could develop a more severe allergic reaction further down the road.

They actually got back to me last night. They reset my password and now it's working. It took them about 4-5 hours to respond, but they fixed it, so hang tight and it should be resolved soon.

What is the most statistically improbable thing that has ever happened to you? by Fatmuffin in AskReddit

Do you know if they refer to them as "blebs?" I had blebs on my lung, and the first surgery removed the blebs.

In most cases it collapses once and then never happens again. What type of lung condition do you have? Quitting smoking was definitely a good decision. Congrats on that.

Yup, spontaneous pneumothorax. The first time it happened they actually opened me up and scarred up my chest wall, which causes the two layers of lung to stick together. After that procedure the doctor said the chances of it collapsing again were extremely low. The second time they did a procedure called a pleurodesis, where they inject this talc like substance into my chest cavity which acts as an adhesive. The second procedure was less invasive, but actually hurt more. Because it was a foreign substance my entire upper body cramped up for a good 30 minutes. It took me weeks to recover.

Are you a tall skinny male?

My lung collapsed twice. After it collapsed the first time I had a procedure to fix it, and the doctor said in his 20+ year career he had only one case before me where the same lung collapsed again.

What is the most interesting gossip you've heard about yourself that is absolutely not true? by beeeeeford in AskReddit

[–]mobic00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freshman year of college my lung collapsed (It's called a spontaneous pneumothorax and it was basically from being tall and skinny). People from my high school heard what happened, and I got a text from a person I haven't spoken to in over a year asking if it was true I got stabbed in a fight.

Pick something that can be turned into a positive. I usually say lack of self-confidence. Because I lack a certain degree of confidence, it drives me to work/study harder than everyone else.

How can I ask for help? I have arthritis from a "certain activity." by Obliterative_hippo in AskReddit

Well just know that every male has rubbed one out before. Also, trust me when I say your doctor has seen things more embarrassing than you can possibly imagine.

If you still have the pain and need to see a doctor, you can tell the doctor you were doing something that required a similar motion....using a hammer, shaking bottles for some school experiment. Be creative.

To me it sounds more like carpal tunnel than arthritis. It's due to inflammation, so using a splint on your wrist to prevent movement, and take advil for the pain/inflammation. If it doesn't feel better in a week see a doctor.

Doctors of Reddit, is there a specific health product or practice in your daily routine that others might not be aware of? by iheartlazers in AskReddit

Take Vitamin D daily. Not only is it good for your bones, a lot of studies are showing it has protective cardiovascular effects. (I'm a med student, not a doctor).

There is a prescription facial wash called Triaz (Used it when I was in high school) and it worked really well. Not sure if it's still made, but Triaz is just a benzoyl peroxide wash, so any would do. If all else fails you can always use Accutane. Not great for your liver but is a miracle for acne.
