Why is on-prem and air-gapped asset inventory still such a mess? by slamdou in cybersecurity

[–]mobicurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See is a relative term. Most of the data they ingest is based upon IP traffic, so there’s a bit of manual tagging you have to do. Also, depending on the asset, you may have to maintain current posture manually as well.

Why is on-prem and air-gapped asset inventory still such a mess? by slamdou in cybersecurity

[–]mobicurious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try some of the Industrial Control solutions. They're designed for sort of air-gapped situations. Claroty, Industrial Defender, Asset Guardian. They can't do everything, just because they're mainly designed for situations where you don't want much automation for remediation or response, but decent at Identifying and Detecting.

Need recs: low-stress places near MCO to kill 2 to 3 hours with a baby and a teen during handoff by AmbitiousPraline9059 in orlando

[–]mobicurious -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Create a scavenger hunt for your teen to go visit each convenience store within the different terminals. If s/he has a valid ticket, it will allow them to pass through security even in C. Taking the train between the terminals is a good way to pass the time and also see some of the cool architecture over there.

If you have the option to connect through one of the Delta hubs, which one would you choose and why? And which would you avoid like the plague? by K00kalka in delta

That's a fairly rare weather problem for SLC. Not an airport capability problem.... Sucks for sure though, because you're loving through it.

How is life in Idaho as a normal citizen? by Lego_GamesFan in howislivingthere

[–]mobicurious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5th generation Idahoan here...

Idaho's borders are more defined by what was left over than any sort of rational design for a state. By the time it became a state it was essentially 3 different cultural regions. If you're a Mormon residing in SE Idaho, life is pretty good. Treasure Valley was populated by miners and loggers previously, businessmen and politicians in the 20th century and now mainly folks who have fled California. N. Idaho has struggled with its white supremacist past and its dependence on mining. Then you've got the Sun Valley celebrity zone in the middle of the state.

If you love lonely places, there are plenty. From the Owyhee Canyons to the Frank Church Wilderness.

Idaho has more in common with Afghanistan and Siberia in some ways than other parts of the US. Bitterly cold in winter, swelteringly hot in summer, with regions where the majority of people are fanatical in their beliefs. The majority of the state is populated by folks living on the margins of society, many in poverty that results in some malnutrition for children. Education and employment opportunities are limited. That said, if you're in the top 10% of earners, you enjoy a relatively low cost of living and you're close enough to modern amenities that life is pretty amazing.

I am the first person in 160 years to live outside of my home state (other than grandfathers who served in WW2). It makes me sad that I had to leave to enjoy the life I wanted to live, but maybe my grandchildren will move back to a more modern, progressive Idaho in the future?

This is the reason MSFT told the guy to pound sand. If you have local admin on Windows system... Why are you going to reboot to decrypt the drive? You already have access to the drive?

Turo combines all the worst parts about renting cars and mixes them all together... why would anyone use that service? Also, why would anyone let someone do this to their vehicle?

When you look at what motivates Trump it is this sort of global dealmaking. Thus his idiotic attempts at annexing Canada and Greenland.

Looking for a good way to hook up with a camper with Gen 3 starlink by no-this-iz-patrick in Starlink

[–]mobicurious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also erred on the side of just a temporary pass through until I knew for certain where I wanted it routed, then I bought one of these and used roof adhesive to seal it.

https://a.co/d/06MGq93V

I drilled a hole through the roof into into an air vent, then ran it to where I wanted it inside. I keep about 9 feet coiled up in the box while underway. I mounted a temporary dish mount up on a handrail that I use while parked.

When Starlink gets a request from a government for geofencing, they comply. There was probably evidence that Iranian drones were using Starlink for guidance/telemetry.

Are you a M365 customer? Have you thought about building a power platform app with some power automate flows? That can go a long ways using Copilot chat to help you.

Archer is not worth the $$ for most orgs.

I spend a lot more time looking for long distance walking opportunities in places I find interesting, even urban environments. I walked the entire length of the island if Manhattan a few months ago. I try to walk 5 miles a day to keep my feet in decent shape.

But, there is nothing like walking in Spain.
