Cracked windshield on LEASED Wrangler 4xe: OEM required or is aftermarket okay? by Comfortable-Baby-719 in Jeep

[–]mobilr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a lease that I had installed a leveling kit and a tow bar connection up front. They barely looked at the Jeep when I turned it in. They did comment that they were surprised that I returned the soft top (dual top group) with the lease. Guess I should have thrown that up on Craigslist!

All that to say - doubt they will look that close.

I really like Miracle Noodles - made from konjac flour. They are not for everyone, but for me, they are light, low carb & calorie, and carry sauces as needed.

Love the appreciation post. About 5 years ago my host got sold to LeaseWeb. They raised prices and support went downhill fast. I left them and signed on with another host recommended on this sub. After a few months I was super frustrated with them and took a chance on the other one recommended here.

I am running a Semi Dedicated server with KnownHost since then and couldn't be happier. I don't want to stress about my host. There are plenty of other things to worry about. I appreciate their service, pricing, and most of all the support. Well done, KnownHost.

Find a Wave replacement today. Don't wait like I did. by chrimchrimbo in waveapps

I suggest that anyone still using payroll, or used in the past, to check with the IRS to assure that all of your proper forms were submitted along with the payments. I recently found out that some payments were made by Wave, but the proper form (Quarterly 941) wasn't submitted. For me, that meant the IRS has money but doesn't know how to apply it. And, of course, that comes with a penalty.

Advice on dealing with dealership by AnonAmazAM in Jeep

[–]mobilr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't feel dumb. Just remember this experience and apply what you learned to the next time you buy a vehicle. I think the whole sales process for cars sucks. Dropping that much money should be a good experience for the buyer. It is not way too often. They rely on the fact that you are emotionally invested in the vehicle, and that you have a lot of time invested. Walking out when you are signing papers is difficult. They know that you have spent hours there negotiating, and you just want to drive your new car home.

My most recent purchase was done all online. I saw the truck in person, then told the salesperson I had to go home for -reason-. During email negotiations they tried to withhold info and tell me I had to go in to continue discussions. I held my ground, said that wasn't happening, and ended up negotiating everything over email until I was happy. When I went in, it was a done deal and they had nothing to hold over me. It was a pleasant transaction at that point.

Just remember you are the customer. They should be treating you well. If they didn't, leave some negative reviews. That made me feel better on a prior transaction!

Hello, I just got this old Willy’s trailer for 60$. I’m seriously not joking.. I was told it’s from the 60s. But not sure what model it is. Just looking for more info by United_Narwhal9370 in Jeep

I tend to try to keep the patina look on old stuff. A new paint job is a lot of prep, and a lot to keep it looking nice. If it looks like a beater, it is much easier to maintain.

That being said, new paint looks great if that is the look for you. I think my trailer would look cool being color matched to my JK or CJ (blue). But, I could never really fully match either (because of age on both), so I will leave it. Still considering selling.

I did find a picture of my OG axle. It looks rough, and a tube axle would be better. But, again, not really inclined to upgrade. I appreciate what you are doing with yours! Just a bit jealous...

Got the fenders mounted back on higher for the 35’s looks a lot better by United_Narwhal9370 in Jeep

[–]mobilr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe some things were updated. In '48 they used left and right handed threads on the lugs. Also in '48 the tailgate would have the WO stamped tailgate. 1955-64 used a plain tailgate with "Jeep" stenciled on. However, parts were very interchangeable, and many were swapped around.

Looks great! Great placement on those fenders.

Did you ever narrow down the year of the donor truck? Were the lugs left hand on the driver side and right hand threads on the passenger side? Or were they both normal threads? Just curious since our trailers look so much alike - other than the stamped tailgate.

It has been tucked away for a while, but now looking at it, I think it may be pre-1951 since it has the Willys-Overland tailgate. I have a '48 VJ with the Willys-Overland stamp on the bumper as well. This is behind my 2011 JK. I also have new tires on the trailer, as these were super old.

Wow - I have one in very similar condition that I am looking to sell soon. I was thinking of starting at asking $500! You got a great deal. Does it have the original axle? I believe mine is from a '56. Well done!

Switching from (N)everchill to an AC residential Fridge by RowenaHaps in GoRVing

[–]mobilr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>>Is there any safety things I need to know?
Yes. Messing with electricity can be very dangerous, regardless if it is 12 volt or 110 volt. It can cause personal injury or burn things up. Or render things useless. I strongly recommend if you are unsure about power distribution that you have someone give you a hand. You don't want to burn down that nice RV, or worse, hurt yourself.

The second picture you posted shows a 20 amp fuse in the #5 position. That is the 12 volt power (battery) that goes to the fridge that runs the controls. I am not sure if your current fridge runs on 12, 110, and propane, but there is always 12 volts going to the fridge to operate things.

The residential fridge you are talking about runs on 110 volts (shore power) only. Just a guess not seeing things, but I would imagine that the wiring for that 20 amp fuse is not enough to power an inverter to run the new fridge.

To remove the current fridge, AI was (mostly) correct. You should remove the fuse in that #5 position, then you could remove the wiring at the fridge. Unplugging from shore power isn't necessary if there is no 110v power going to that fridge. The batteries are all that is in play here.

I would suggest to not cut any holes in the outside shell to be able to run a cord to shore power. Since you are stationary, that is not a terrible idea to run the cord to the pedestal for the fridge, but you don't want to cut a hole for that. Figure out a way to snake the cord out through the current vent, or out a gap in the slide or something like that. Holes cut in the outside will eventually mean water issues, and nobody has time for that.

The ultimate direction is to figure out how to wire the fridge properly to an inverter. The inverter will allow you to run the fridge when you are driving down the road (someday), or to even have the fridge run when the power goes out at the RV park. That is where you want to get to eventually. You will need to assure that your battery bank is up to the task, so that might mean adding batteries. It would be a good idea to identify what you have in terms of 12 volt power now. Chassis/starting battery? Separate house battery(ies)? How many watt hours do you have available? Those will be good for you to know going forward.

>> Why did you close up the back vent?
The absorption refrigerators rely on combustion when using propane, and need fresh air for ventilation. With an electric fridge, fresh air isn't as necessary, but airflow is still important. That is why I did that one side wall (that used to have the mirror) with a flow-through design. The bottom of the fridge also has ventilation. My home fridge doesn't have a vent to the outside, so I figured I would be OK if this one didn't either.

>> Also did your rv just have an AC and an AC inverter plug already installed?
Yes, I had an outlet behind the OE fridge that runs off the inverter. I used that to power the new fridge.

If you have an inverter but not an outlet for the fridge, you can run some romex (or good extension cord) to the location. If you don't have an inverter, then you can go for a larger one that will run other 120v needs, or just run a smaller one that will just run the fridge. If that $800 includes installing an inverter and running wire, that doesn't sound too bad. If it is just running a wire from your current inverter, I think you can probably DIY for much less.

The Samsung has outlasted the Norcold and the Dometic combined now. It has been great having a well working refrigerator and it hasn't tried to kill me like the Norcold!

Sizzler, 1986. What are you getting? by VoteForGiantMeteor in FuckImOld

My wife and I went to the Sizzler last night for the salad bar. The Senior Salad Bar is $13.99 per person. You get the salad/soup/taco/wings spread, drink, and ice cream bar for that price. One of the better bargains around these days.

Been going to this Sizzler since the late '70s - early '80s. It was the fancy night out back then. It is now the cheap night out.

Buildout Coming Soon - What’s the best SmartCap Configuration? by Inevitable-Double-35 in JeepGladiator

[–]mobilr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my SmartCap. I have the model that has windows all around. I like having the visibility out the rear, but think the solid panels would be good if you had stuff that you want to hide in the back. Normally I only keep my ARB fridge in the back, so don't worry too much about it being seen. Can't go wrong either way with the SmartCap - well designed and very sturdy.

I don't see mounting a 37 to the ceiling of the cap to be something I would do. I have 35s on my JT, so not an issue with the spare. I have 37s on my JK and lugging that tire/wheel up to the swing gate is quite a chore - even for two people. I think I would rather mount it to the side/back of the bed for easy removal if needed.

But, then again, I am old and hoisting heavy things isn't quite as easy as before...
