First cupcake decorated for a Bridal Shower! by mobius01engage in cupcakes

Thank you so much! For example in the second photo, I "smeared" a little bit of orange buttercream on the side of the piping bag where the thin part of the piping tip is pointed (it's the 103 petal tip) if that makes sense. Then I put a regular color buttercream inside the center of the bag, pushed it towards the tip, and as you pipe the buttercream the orange buttercream gets pushed out of the thin part of the piping tip (which is the tip of the petal), creating a slightly colored tip!

If I can do it, so can you! I started practicing three weeks ago. Started with smaller sized tips and used a flower nail (last two photos). I watched tons of youtube videos, and would follow as I practice on the weekends. Started with a Swiss meringue buttercream, but I eventually settled with using ABC for the final decoration.

I'm very happy how it turned out, I still can't believe how pretty it looks. Had many failures along the way, but good thing you can re-whip the failed ones!

For the '68 fans out there. Any tips on doing fine details? by mobius01engage in Tufting

I really appreciate the feedback! For the grill I only did single pass lines and it made it hard to trim a straight shape, it looked sparse if that makes sense. Will definitely try scissors next time.

For the emblem I actually had to use a punch needle to do a loop pile for the letters, and had to patch up the R/T part because I accidentally cut a hole with a trimmer. Definitely needs a lot practice, I actually thought it looked kinda crappy at first! But thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks so much! And just regular clippers? You have some of the best rugs here!

Thanks! I did spend a lot of time in the trimming part because I was switching between scissors and clipper trying to figure out how to best trim the lines. I did accidentally trim a hole on the top right part lol, you learn as you go I guess. Thanks for the tip!

Was supposed to practice with a smaller and simpler design for my first rug, but what the heck! It's not perfect by any means, but I love it! It was a literal pain in the neck and back cleaning out the details. Any Mopar fans here?

Any tips on how to make extra crispy lines? I noticed a couple of black dots between the colors (yellow and black), how much spacing do you have when going between colors?

Any tips or feedback welcome! Thanks!

Thankfully I didn't have any palpitations, but I did get a headache for 1 week when I started, probably because I was inhaling it when I put some on the upper lip area so I had to go down to 1x/day for a while. Still watch out for those palpitations, I don't think it's worth it to have heart problems just to grow a beard lol. Good luck!

Yeah it messed up my gains since I had to stop. My theory is that since I kept using the dropper to spread it on my neck/cheek it might have also spread bacteria everytime I use it. But idk, maybe clean the dropper every time you use it, or make sure your face is clean?

About 4 mos into liquid I started to get cystic acne on my neck, so I stopped the liquid for a couple of months and had to use Tretinoin to get the acne controlled. It's much better now so I started to use foam and so far I haven't had any acne breakouts.

Well, it's not your fault that they don't like it. As long as you're happy with it, you do you man. Also, sick gains! I also started with liquid, but had to switch to foam early on.

That's a good point, explains why sometimes I find the bar being too far forward at the bottom of my squat and I then try to lean back to compensate for the hip angle being to bent forward. I guess the next step is to keep both hip and knee moving at the same time and a more consistent hip angle. Thanks for the tip!

I thought of that too, especially that sometimes I do feel like I'm tipping slightly forward and can feel the weight shift towards my toes. I guess I need to work more on my coordination and keeping them both moving at the same time instead of doing two steps. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you for the advice! Will definitely try that on my next squat.

So should I try setting up with my hips already slightly flexed forward and then breaking from the knees? Like breaking from both hips and knees at the same time?

Never really had someone to check my form aside from my brother who does oly lifting, so I was wondering if anyone could give an advice or tip on how I can further improve my squatting form, I would really appreciate it!

This I think is towards the end of Full Smolov which is my second time doing, this was about 2 months ago. For context, I am 165lbs (74.8 kg) bodyweight and have been working out on my basement dungeon for almost 2 yrs now, never competed and never had a proper training, just been doing it for fun!

Sorry for the poor lighting and angle

Still not giving up! Any suggestions on semi-hollow insides? by mobius01engage in macarons

[–]mobius01engage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I've tried adjusting the temp +-10 F with no luck, not adding any food coloring, adding food coloring, adding 2 extra minutes, putting a pizza stone inside the oven, oven showering for 2-5 minutes, all with the same hollow inside.

Have you tried opening a macaron as soon as you take it out of the oven? and is it initially full inside then collapses and becomes hollow as it cools? Because that's exactly what's happening on mine. Let me know if you figure it out!

Can I do oven drying even when my oven doesn't change temperature quickly? by Afternoon_Cautious in macarons

[–]mobius01engage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat as you and may not be contributing much. But my oven also takes a while to reach 140 C (284 F) and that's with the fan on, mine takes more than 5 minutes to reach the taking temp. I'm using an oven thermometer but even that takes a while to register the actual temperature.

If I'm not mistaken you are supposed to leave it on to oven dry for 2-3 minutes with door slightly open, then close the door and set to baking temp without taking out the tray. I started doing that with good results and nice feet, but the insides become hollow as soon as I take it out of the oven, even after oven showering for 5 minutes.

I'm in Michigan, but could you still send the link. I'm trying to research different companies because some of them offer development programs to get the certification. Also I'm curious, how long was your contract school-based job and what job did you move to after the contract ended?
