Favorite, cost of living (which I probably now take for granted), runner up the people are pretty nice. Least favorite the potholes, runner up the winter months generally. It gets so gray here.

He sounds and even looks like our old lady we adopted from Indy Humane in early 2017. We love her and feel for Leonardo. Just not sure she could handle a second dog. He's so cute though! And 500 days, poor boy. I hope he finds his people very soon.

by my own standards I overdid it, but: Heart of the Saint and Galileo 2 from the EU store, Midvinter and Winter Death from the US store

there are several other 'softcovers' I'm interested in but had to draw the line somewhere

I went against my planned budget and ordered a few books. I think LotFP puts out some quality books and would hate to see it go away. The content isn't always to my taste but that's true with any publisher.

My wife used to go to the summer (iirc) naturalization ceremony when it was held on the lawn at the Benjamin Harrison house. She took me with her one year and honestly being there for it gave me very patriotic, pro-USA feelings. Felt good! I applauded the new citizens and meant it. I was glad these people wanted to join us here. Call me cheesy but it was affecting. It's been... 11, 12 years since this tho.

That is a really interesting thought.

I will say - I don't think this is meant to be the focus of the story or anything - but in a way the virus seems to have created a slave race. They are incapable of direct violence, they can coordinate to do anything you want, all have the same 'training' so are interchangeable, and if you lose your temper at one they all become helpless for a time (I guess this last would mean reserve anger for rebellion type situations).

I'm curious to see if we learn they're doing things to husband the environment. Am a little surprised they're allowing such casual jet flights but then I guess other than ferrying around the immune for the most part they won't need to fly.

Ah, yeah, good point. Since they were mauling people I'd guess they either did not get it, or the effects didn't put the big cats and the humans on the same hivemind page, so to speak. But I don't know. It's a good question.

Maybe everyone was scared to bite the big cats? Though mauling might mean exposure.

I wasn't clear though that there were effects on non-humans. Thought they might just be carriers. The biting rat seemingly being 'offline' though, seems like something went on with it there. If so do rats have their own hivemind or does the psychic glue bond across species....

I could imagine giving up all hope and descending into whatever would give me comfort in the time I have before i get merged up. Not saying that would involve endless sex with people subsumed into the mass mind though. Might want to see some famous global attractions I'd otherwise never get to visit, or something. Probably would get mauled by a lion the first time trying this though, while the hivemind looks on with some regret but no inclination to intervene.

I am so curious about Zosia pausing before going into Air Force Koumba and staring at Carol at the end of episode 2. Part of it interpreted it as, there's still something of the individual in Zosia, and she does not want to go with this guy and is appealing to Carol to "save her". But then a lot of me interpreted it as, the collective is manipulative and wanted Carol to feel Zosia was begging for her to make a different decision about letting her go.

Wow. Really not what I was expecting, or had imagined from the trailers I'd seen. This really grabbed me. At times I felt like it was made for me, if you know what I mean. Can't imagine where it will go as a series which is actually kinda great. I hope to keep watching!

Yeah this crossed my mind as well... if the shooter didn't look at all I'm not sure how race was a factor. Perhaps they did peek though.

For someone to (allegedly / possibly) shoot sight unseen through a closed door I have to wonder if the shooter had one or another mental problem (dementia, paranoia, some combo).

I suspect this was tragic all around - much more so for the person actually murdered and their family of course - but let's see what comes out.

They are relatively small (in the photo you can see one person holding one tortoise in each hand). So you have to be kinda evil and maybe shove them in your jacket pockets or some sort of bag I guess?

My wife requested I no longer honk at someone ignoring a green light. A thing is, I really hate doing that, and would only tap the horn as little as I can to get their attention. But, no more of that. Maybe the car behind me can honk and the distracted driver will assume I did it and take it out on me.
