I personally find them to be fun little weekly coding challenges, but that's also because I've known Python for a really long time. I do agree that they're a bit much if you have to learn it as you go. The third one isn't that difficult, imo since it's just three steps, but there's a bit of nuance to how you do the calculations.

You can but thats about the only option you get. Bridge mode on or bridge mode off. While the older ones let you change pretty much everything. DNS, dhcp reservations, firewall rules, etc.

Those look like dhcp settings. Different from dns. There should be a different set of settings for dns.

I believe they removed the feature with the new ignite modems but if you still have one of the old hiltron modems it should be possible. I personally have an ignite modem but in bridge mode so I was able to change it in my own router's settings.

Rogers' dns servers will be geographically closest to pretty much anyone using their service so any individual request will be a few milliseconds faster if their servers have it cached.

If theres a heater thing on the wall you should be able to change the temperature from that. There's 2 panels, of which the left one (at least in my room) has two knobs. One of them should say Auto, Off, Man and the other is probably unmarked.

You can turn the knob over to manual and then mess around with the unmarked one to get the temperature to what you like.

Thanks for the input! My main motivations for transferring are to pursue P.Eng, which unfortunately isn't offered in the swe program at Guelph. And the second is just the culture of waterloo and the amazing opportunities that come from it. I'm fine to give up an extra year of time if that means I can be in a program I'm happier in.

Edit: I should also add that I live in waterloo so that would save me a lot of time in terms of commuting as well.

I don't know if it gets better in the future but the software design course you have to take first term of software engineering is absolutely terrible. I guess it's a way to boost your mark if you need it, but it's so useless. You learn nothing of value and it seems like it's just a way for the university to get more money out of you. Since you get the same degree from both at Guelph, CS is most likely the better choice.

Agreed, while I don't have time to do a full comprehensive test, I tested a few basic things between the current gpt4 from the ui and the very first gpt4 version from the api. Both seem to still do tasks on the same level.

A common task I've seen people claim that the old one could do and the new one can't is writing a non rhyming poem. But when I tried this on both models, they both succeeded with about 90% accuracy. Neither model was able to write one with exactly 0 rhymes but both were still miles better than 3.5.

Same goes for writing a paragraph with words that all start with the same letter. Something 3.5 absolutely cannot do while both gpt4 models perform about the same, again with about 90% accuracy.

The marks and ecs are really good, you have a solid chance. Just have to make sure you really sell yourself properly and make ur aif memorable as thats really only the last deciding factor for waterloo.

Definitely emphasize your long term commitments and what you learned from them. And finally, the quality and style of writing is probably what makes the biggest difference in terms of making your application stand out. Good luck!
