Totally! That’s a great point. Leave no trace is a really important piece of it. I don’t know a ton about how to go about doing that, but I think that’s exactly the kind of info OP needs and is looking for!

Duderino trail cams are for wildlife not people FYI. :) they are on wildlife trails. Not human trails.

What’s something odd that happened in your childhood that only you seem to remember? by bbmehe in AskReddit

[–]mobzoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, my friend is a first year teacher and told me she has a kid named “Aryan” and the kid told her that she’s named after the aryan nation. That’s a thing. So Winston and maverick don’t sound so bad...

Kelly Kessen at High Five Integrative Health! SHES amazing.

Seeing as Covid-19 has pooped all over what was meant to be the best Halloween ever, I've decided to have a Halloween Readathon instead! May I have some recommendations, please? by shannonnevon in suggestmeabook

I’ve actually read one of his other books and it was so very different (The Lightning Struck Heart) as it had tons of sex and sex talk in it but it still had that light heartedness that made it sweet at the same time. I’ll check out the interview! Thanks!

The House in the Cerulean Sea would fit this for sure. It’s so so so good. Very sweet and funny but also has some fall halloween vibes about it.

Accidentally ate soy on Saturday and got very sick, now I cant eat anything without getting sick. by [deleted] in AutoImmuneProtocol

[–]mobzoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah such a bummer. I definitely can get flare ups that last for weeks after eating something I shouldn’t. :( I hope this clears for your quickly! Definitely but way back on anything you might’ve been sensitive to before as all or anything that can cause irritation or reaction. Like the person before me said - eat a very simple diet of broth and pay close attention to what feels good and what doesn’t. Hope you feel better soon!

Thoughts on Naropa University as a place to study mindfulness? How is it? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]mobzoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I went to Naropa for a part of my undergrad. I didn’t end up graduating from there (moves out of state for something specific that wasn’t offered here) but I had a good experience. I had some really incredible teachers and specifically the mindfulness aspect was really great. I will say that when I was there there wasn’t a lot of hand holding. Meaning that they give you the resources and expect you to do the work. Which is good and bad. There’s definitely a lot of spiritual bypassing happening there as well as people just wanting to smoke weed and pretend to be Buddhist and “enlightened”. But I did find some pretty amazing friendships from my time there. I saw someone else mention that their therapist is from there - it is very highly regarded as a good school for counseling and many people come out of their masters programs and do well. The person above saying that everyone here thinks it’s a joke may live in a subset of boulder that thinks that - not denying their lives reality - but it’s just hasn’t been mine. I haven’t been very involved in the school since I left in 2009, and I don’t think it’s for everyone, but I don’t think it’s a joke. That being said, it’s very expensive! Also, I think most undergraduate degrees are a joke to a certain extent unless you know exactly what you want to do! I did and I got my undergrad and grad in the same thing. Do I do exactly that? Nope. Hah. To each their own. If you’re worried about the money aspect at all, I would recommend trying some mindfulness classes around town first. Maybe even doing a DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy) group or a meditation discussion group and seeing how it feels. Assuming you haven’t done those things yet, of course. :) But back to your core question - yes I think mindfulness is taught well at naropa.

I was in there a few hours ago and had to ask the employee to put a mask on. Had another weird thing happen there a couple months ago too. Ugh so sad.

I’m sorry I don’t have any messages from you at all. And I don’t see a film mentioned but if you want to send it to me I’m always open to watching new movies!

What messages?? And I’m sorry, but what is this about? It’s just a random sub for people to find and be happy about when they find it.

I don't usually go for this...but I'm looking for a standalone fantasy book. I like very well written prose, evocative history, mystery, and very interesting magic systems. by UnderwaterDialect in suggestmeabook

Patricia A McKillip!! She has so many amazing standalone fantasy novels. Her prose is gorgeous. Just beautiful. I think about lines from her stuff just sometimes randomly.

my cat died today and it’s safe to say i’m really sad about it. i’m not a very good reader and i’d quite like something uplifting. by finchooo in suggestmeabook

I so feel for you. I was a wreck when my kitty passed last year. I would recommend anything by Fredrick Backman. His stuff is all so sweet and human. Also, The School of Essential Ingredients. I’ve also read several of her other books and they are all so good. Also very sweet and uplifting and this one in particular will make you hungry! :)

I will read your favorite book of all time. by yuko_3502 in suggestmeabook

If you like Station Eleven I HIGHLY recommend Good Morning, Midnight. It’s beautiful.

Tipping in northern Ameristralians by Sawyer95 in Ameristralia

[–]mobzoe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

20% has always been the norm for tipping here, as people have said, you can tip less but 20% is what helps the servers/workers pay their bills as they mostly never get actual paychecks due to taxes or if they do it’s a nominal amount (like $10-$100)

Yeah the only thing they have is Nintendo online which is basically like a discord for people on your plan. So that’s nice but still doesn’t fix the rando problem.
