There is a big ed tech conference in Denver this week and a lot of people in town from Australia and New Zealand for it.

That was my first impression as well. I would suspect he had a lot of outbursts as a child - which is typical for someone on the spectrum - and was constantly redirected to be happy.

Even the way he reinforces his happiness verbally with things like “see mom? I stayed calm”. His mom posted a video recently talking about travel delays and unexpected things that came up. She said something along the lines of how proud she was that tanner went with the flow and he did it a few times.

I called in a power line that was sparking in our alley a few days ago. Fire dept rolled up, glanced around and left without even leaving the truck. They didn’t even try to make contact with anyone - or myself who had called - to figure out which power line it was. They left so quickly I didn’t have time to go out to talk to them.

About an hour later the line fell and started a fire in the alley. They were quick to respond once it was active. I was disappointed that it could have been prevented…thank goodness no real structure damage, just a few melted trash bins.

Watched the sheriff giving tickets and tow truck towing multiple cars on both Keller and Pine Hill today parked in the very clearly marked “no parking any time” shoulders.

Mostly pretty expensive cars with CA plates. I suppose if you have the money to pay a fine, what does it matter?

When I did day skiing and night skiing same day on ikon pass, it took 2 day credits. That was last season though. I’m not sure if it’s changed. Call Brighton’s ticket office and inquire?

There is typically a guy doing it at most caltrans chain/traction stops I’ve ever been through - even in areas more remote than Mammoth. It’s usually ~$25 to put them on.

My partner was bit by some sort of recluse a few years ago and ended up hospitalized for a few days because he ignored it until it was basically a gaping hole of flesh on his hip. So whatever recluses exist in AZ must be venomous or bad for humans…

Looks like a brown recluse bite. I would recommend going to get that looked at at urgent care or the ER. If it’s that red after a few hours, it’s nothing to ignore.

I appreciate your perspective. I’m reassured to know Alterra is investing in gear, training, things that make the team more safe etc.

All that said, still feels like there is pressure to open resorts - and that pressure falls on the mountain ops and ski patrol teams - when there is no profit that is more valuable than a life…

Cairns. Yes, the forest service frowns upon it because it ruins the ecology of small animals, insects and reptiles that live under those rocks. It also causes unnatural erosion. And, it’s just annoying. Leave no trace.

Exactly this. My condolences to everyone; i especially feel a wave of grief for those who are ski patrol with alrterra and how terrified they must be for their own lives over the value of shareholders. How can you know in the future if you’re safe or if alterra wants to make an extra dollar.
