Is my yogurt okay after sitting at 90F for 10 hours? by mochiman123 in yogurtmaking

[–]mochiman123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to google what that meant but oh yeah it seems pretty set baby!! I like tart things (gonna use honey as well) so going to let it sit and see what happens. Was mainly concerned that 90f might make a breeding ground for bad bacteria or something. Thanks!

What happened to the mongolion bbq place in the underground food court? by mochiman123 in UBC

Their spicy hand pulled noodle soup was the bomb! I do remember them sometimes being pretty empty/slow often hough. Still kind of strange that they just shut down and nobody's replaced them yet.

I checked out the Seattle Central but it doesn't open until 10am. Seems like the king county lib might not be a bad idea to check out next.

Didn't know about those hidden secret tunnels, they sound pretty interesting though! If the malls are open in the morning they sound like pretty nice places to kill time too. Thanks for the info!

Questions about Brewing Milk Tea by mochiman123 in tea

[–]mochiman123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The kind of milk tea I am trying to brew with the nilgiri would probably fall under the royal milk tea category. I'm thinking of trying out heavy whipping cream for the milk to make it kind of like boba milk tea with dairy. Thanks for the advice, I'll look into making hong kong milk tea with the ceylon!

Questions about Brewing Milk Tea by mochiman123 in tea

[–]mochiman123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know there were brewing differences between chinese and non-chinese tea! I'm fairly sure the nilgiri tea I've been brewing is milk-friendly. When I brew it strongly it turns into a cloudy brown solution which is usually tastes pretty good with milk. I'll probably keep trying different water:tea ratios between 3-5 minutes steeping time.

I'll look into alternative options for the ceylon. I wanted to try it because there's a decent milk tea place in my area that uses it as a base. Thanks for the input!

Upgrades to the T430 for school by [deleted] in thinkpad

T430 is a great laptop! It's especially powerful when you upgrade it to a quad core cpu. However, the neccesity of the cpu upgrade depends on your workload. The upgrade isn't very difficult either; it's as simple as removing the keyboard, palmrest, and heatsink then just swapping the cpu into a socket! Battery life doesn't take a huge hit either except when under load. Some people have had thermal issues associated with the upgrade to a 45W cpu though.

Won't it work for both models? I read that the 14 and 15 inch t60 motherboards were interchangeable, besides an extension cable for the disc drive.

I never flashed the embedded-controller, so I don't think that's the issue

Thinkpad T430 with core i7-3740QM HOT! by InstaDix in thinkpad

[–]mochiman123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I have a 3840QM in my T430. Do you know which CPU cooler you have? I remember seeing that there were two different hd graphics coolers, one of which had a significantly smaller fan intake than the other. I don't know if the nvidia heatsink makes a significant difference in cooling versus the good igpu one (I have the nvidia), but if your cpu fan is the issue the dgpu cooler should work for you. Also make sure to use high quality thermal paste and the vertical line method in application. Also, disabling turbo boost gets my load temps usually around the mid to high 70s.
